Finally heading back into dairy goats...

New husband, new farm, new barn on the way--what a great couple of years! I sold my dairy goats in 2010 after the death of my husband in 2007. Sold them all, sadly; too much work alone and my teenaged children were not into goats at that point in their lives. I then married again in 2011. Now new hubby and I have finally sold our homes and bought a farm! We are fencing in the acreage and planning a nice-sized barn, and I am getting into dairy goats again! We decided we weren't getting any younger and we both wanted more farming in our lives, so here we go...

I want a doe in milk, and an unrelated doeling, and plan to add an unrelated buckling later in the summer. I previously raised Lamancha, but I am interested in Oberhasli or Lamancha. We milk for personal use, and really don't need more than two does in milk at any time.

We live in Middle Tennessee, and are looking for nearby Oberhasli or Lamancha breeders we are willing to offer what we are looking for. Any ideas?

Wink

Why not have one of each. That way they have company and you don't have to make a decision on which one to buy.

I think that sounds great! What a wonderful time of your life
In May of 2011 my sister died in that awful tornado that destroyed most of Joplin, MO.
Her husband had had a stroke the year before and he was devastated by the events in his life. While he still had his speech and was mobile, he was not physically the man he had once been in terms of the things he really liked to do.
After a year of true suffering for all of us...but especially him, he decided to reunite with his a woman from his youth who was also widowed. They worried that we (my husband and I) would not accept their decision to forge a bond and support each other "til death do they part." At first it was sort of awkward for us...but we all TRIED and we all understood that in this life it is better to love and live than to give up and just dry up.
Congrats to you for building a new life. We wish you great peace and happiness.

Whenever you're given a second chance, hang on for dear life and enjoy the ride. Opportunities such as yours don't come along often or easily.
Best of luck to you in your new endeavors.
