I always knew goats were good for SOMETHING!

I received the email this afternoon... I am admitted to Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, class of 2018!

I'm also currently graduating with my BS in animal science - gpa should be around 3.7-3.8, but final grades aren't submitted yet.

And goats are to blame for it all. I always knew I wanted to be a vet since I was young and realized you grew up to do 'something' with your life... but the pathway getting here has required goats to walk beside me! I have been a part of this forum since 2005, and joined at the tender age of 15. I'll be 24 in February, and it will be 9 years here on this forum in March, and in that time I have made great friends and learned practically all I know about goats here. You have supported me through the rough times and gave me others to talk to when there wasn't anybody else who understands the joys and frustrations of goat keeping.

I sincerely thank all of you. Now, where should I go after I graduate?

WOW! Congrats for being rewarded for all your hard work! ...and OH, NO! MISSOURI is where you need to come...we put in the first dibbies some months ago. Not only can we supply you with all the goat customers you will ever need; we also can and will supply you with all the mountain oysters you can eat! Bet those Ohio people won't be able to top that! Welcome to Missouri - should we be looking for prime goat owners property??? or put it off until you graduate? Alice is our resident "Real Estate Lady" so just call her up when you are ready.

another vote for Southern Missouri.. there are LOTS of us crazy goat folks, back in these hills!!!.. you get all four seasons...low cost of living...beautiful area... and would have ZERO competition practice wise.. as you'd be the ONLY goat vet around!!!!

My vote is in for Southern Idaho. There is so much beauty in Idaho, and guess where all the best alfalfa and other crops are grown? Right here, bebe! :P

Also, HUGE congrats! I know just how hard it is to get into vet school, as I contemplated it for myself, but decided against it, since I liked my job as a tech so much!

Ok, Athens is an awesome and the atmosphere at UGA is amazing. We hardly ever have snow, and there is as little or as much as you can possibly want to do in or within an hour of Athens.
Plus, you can put a fence up here and keep your goaties within 30 min of the college and there are several friends of mine that have farms that they allow students to work off rent per say.
Did I mention the beaches of FL or NC are 4 hours away?

Hey...you Missouri people are always bragging about your great vets. Have you EVER seen anyone on here from Ohio saying that their vets knew anything at all about goats? I didn't think so! You see, Dona, if you come here, you will have no competition...the field is wide open, unlike Missouri (Susie is fibbing).

I am so proud of you Mygoat! What a great post. I would love to have you come here but I don't think there is the population needed to support your wings to fly!!! You have so much to offer I think you should choose an area with lots of goats and good looking guys. We do have good looking guys here but few and far between.

Its pretty amazing out here on the left coast, so much to do and see and all sorts of interesting terrain and people out here-- and plenty of goats! Come out here and dip your toes in the pacific, and stay awhile.....
(You gonna want to relax alittle after all that schooling, CONGRATs btw)....

The only reason our vets know anything about goats is because we've taught them lol....they all start out goat clueless (would love to take a goat in and not be the one deciding how much of what we are going to use ). Susie ,mo ozarks

The choice is clear then . . . you HAVE to stay
in MICHIGAN as we really need a great goat vet
around the south-central part of the state!

(And you know that's true) Congrats btw.
