Oh SHOOT! My dogs could've died!
Went out to the barn this morning, and there was an extension cord chewed in half by the dogs, THAT WAS HOOKED UP. I could have lost everyone in a fire, the goats... the dear bunnies.. the DOGS! Ah! I'm surprised the dogs were alive!

Scary- I'm so glad it's ok. Now you have a warning as to what those dogs can get into.

Well it was attached to the ceiling. They have chewed multiple hoses and flooded the barn at least 3 times, but this was much worse! Or it could've been!

Usually the breaker will trip long before a fire ever happens... Usually an animal only chews a cord one time and they learn to leave them alone... I saw a cat get wired up chewing a cord one day.. never went near them again..

Yikes. I'm glad it worked out and your barn & furry friends are well.

How scary!! I once had an Amazon parrot who flew out a room the second I heard a pop. I smelled burning wires.
Brought the destruction to her & asked her "Did you do this?"
She cowered.

They chewed all the way through, like in half! They also chewed the triple outlet plug in thing into three. Wow. I won't test their ability to chew a coyote in half ever again. lol Thankfully, it seems as though they pulled it out of the actual outlet BEFORE they chewed it in half. Otherwise, I think we might have had some trouble.

What is it about cords and pups wanting to chew on them? Time to get creative, I'm still trying to figure out how to completely dog proof my cords, my buckets, my gloves, my cell phone....

Scary stuff!
I also, like Goat Servant had an amazon parrot chew the plastic off a calculator adapter that was plugged up. I didn't even notice it until the bird went back into her cage. Thank the Lord above one of the kids didn't touch the wire because that copper was bare.

I had an African grey parrot pull an electric cord into his cage once. (For future reference, if the cage bars are spaced 1" apart and the birds beak is 1" long, his reach is actually 4" !) I came home from work and saw sparks flying! The exposed wire was touching the metal cage bars. It did not trip the fuse. Nor did it seem to hurt him. But he did have a really spooked expression on his face. Glad you caught the chewed cord in time. I'm afraid
