What's this bare spot?

I just noticed this yesterday for the first time. It had to just happen. I look at my goats every day. To be honest, I've been doing a lot of hunting so most of the time it's been before dark and after dark so I could of missed it and it could be a couple weeks old. I looked all over her and this is the only spot. It doesn't have any redness around it. Ideas?????

It could be ringworm.

Yep. Was thinking along those lines. Can a vet do a culture and know for sure? What's the easiest treatment if that's it? Looks like she's going to be separated.

It could be a few things... I'd behave as though it's ringworm so you/your family don't get it. You can have a vet do a fungal culture on it, or you can get an atheletes foot cream/liquid and apply a few times a day for a while. wear gloves.

I use my beloved MTG but the athletes foot stuff works good too, I prefer the spray for easier use

If you shine a black light on it and the skin glows it's ringworm.

But there are also ringworm fungi that don't glow, so if it doesn't that doesn't mean it isn't.

A fungal culture takes like 2 weeks.

It could also be a place where she had gotten scratched, scabbed and healed. Or maybe a vaccine was given there and it made a scab that is now healed.

I bought a anti fungal foot spray and sprayed it on. How often do I do this?

I would think whatever the instructions say. I have had ringworm myself, and it took about 2 weeks to clear up with the medicine, so it may take a while to notice a difference.

My girls have horns and they get those spots sometimes from leisurely scratching themselves with their horns. Drove me nuts until I figured out what was causing the bald spots on their sides. Your goat doesn't look like she has horns but I thought I would mention this just in case.

I don't have a blacklight anymore. I asked my wife if the kids had one.

Hunting is great. Duck hunting is a blast. My 11 year old got his first Mallard this year. My dog is doing great her first year.

I figured someone would make the man comment. Lol
