New to baby goats! Please help

I was given an 8 day old goat who was a triplet but rejected by her mom. She is now 13 days old so I have had her 5 days now and seems to have a decent appetite I have been feeding her Nurse All. She's eating about 4 1/2 ounces at a feeding 3 times a day. Her poop is runny. Is it suppose to be this way or should it be pellets?
Also should i give her any medicine or anything? All and any advice is very welcome

First off...get rid of the milk replacement and get her on whole milk from the groc store. Very few people have good luck with replacement.
You should visit www.fiascofarm.com for general goat care info. 4.5 3 times a day does not sound like enough milk to me but it may be different because it's replacer. You are going to need to start Cocci meds soon and that is covered on the fiasco farm website. The poops should be little berries. My guess it's the replacer giving her the runs.

Milk replacer works fine, but it HAS to be GOAT milk replacer, not an all specie milk replacer. I would get either whole milk or GOAT milk replacer ASAP. I have actually had better luck with goat milk replacer than whole milk though. Good luck!

I would also switch her to whole milk from the store. I think you'll see a big improvement with the switch.

Someone help me out here. I always give Probios when I have one with the runs. 9 times out of 10, it has stopped it and allowed me to find out the cause. Most of the time, I have attributed it to something they ate or some stress or something like that. A couple of times it has been a worm load. Should I not do that in one this young?

I would not be giving an 14 day old baby anything but goats milk or whole milk. Mayyyyybe mix in some cultured buttermilk or yogurt but not things like water, electrolytes, pepto, and such. Unless vet diagnosed with something. ie ecoli

Keep an eye on her, a baby this young shouldn't get too muh else in their tummies other than their milk. Some pepto is fine once or twice but now see how the whole milk is going to do so give it a day or so to see if she straightens out.

I get 99% of my livestock supplies from Jeffers Livestock (jefferslivestock.com) Best prices.

If you want the kid disbudded, you'll need to have it done ASAP.

Coccidia prevention should be started at 3 weeks, and given every 3 weeks thereafter until 'well grown'. Most are 5 day treatment courses. They're fairly easy becasue for a while, you can put it in the milk. As older kids, some of the treatments taste bad (dimethox) and at such big doses you may need to syringe it in them becasue they'll just stop taking the medicated bottle. Some treatments don't taste that bad (Baycox).

I vaccinate at 3, 6, and 9 weeks if I don't know the dam's vaccination status pre-kidding. I use CDT. Ideally the dams are vaccinated a month pre-kidding and when they are, they impart better immunity to their kids through colostrum. Normally, I vaccinate at 4 and 8 weeks of age.

I deworm at 4 and 8 weeks, then do fecals.

I begin feeding a medicated lamb feed free choice to kids starting at about 2 weeks. I usually mix it 2 parts lamb pellet, 1 part alfalfa pellet. I also free choice hay starting at about 2 weeks old. I also supply free choice baking soda and quality loose minerals as well.

I keep feeding milk until at LEAST 8 weeks of age, and will feed longer for doe kids or if I have extra milk around.

My goat- so am I understanding that I can give her a cdt shot?
I'm completely new to goats and am trying to learn. Is the cdt shot like a yearly shot before kidding?

Yes, CD & T shot is the same vaccine you give to your does' 3-4 weeks before kidding. Baby goats get 2 CD & T shots, 3-4 weeks apart then they are good until the next year when they just get 1 a year just like your does' or other adult goats.
Give the baby her 1st CD & T shot at 3-4 weeks then her booster 3-4 weeks later. It's 2cc of the vaccine no matter the age or size.

Sounds like you jumped in with both feet, Bojack!

Um... not to overly concern you, but do you have other goats? That kid is going to be wanting goat company. You really need at least one more goat if you don't have one yet.

Yes I have 5 other 10 month old goats I have been letting her out with, when I feed them and now that she is eating pretty good, I am about to move one of the older doe's in a pen with her that she cannot get out of. I just wanted her to get strong enough to live outside.
If I didn't take the goat, the man who gave her to me was just going to let her fend for herself with a mother who rejected her. She was a triplet. And at the time the weather was way to cold and rainy for her I survive alone. I wouldn't of taken her if I had no other goats for her to interact with.
I figured I need to learn how to care for an orphaned or rejected baby goat before my other doe's have their 1 babies in the future, so here was my chance.
The baby goat had nothing to lose , it was either be left to die or me take her and try to raise her the best i could. And I have learned a lot by caring for her and The what to do and what not to do
I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to reply and help me with this baby goat I know I may not seem like i should of taken her cause of my lack of knowledge but you never learn things till you try them and i have learned so much in the process of caring for her.
