Critique this doe

I know there aren't many pictures and I have requested others of teats and dam's full udder. Still, what thoughts do you all think on this Saanen doe? She will be one year this coming Spring.

Yes. The breeder is 6'4", which makes the doe look smaller. Lol.

I think I would still ask how big she is. Just b/c you want mini saanens I would caution not to go with a smaller saanen. The babies will be good sized even though a ND is used. Most of my F1's avg 7 with some being 7.5# at birth. Oh and my 3 yo f1 is still only about 23-24" tall!

Look for width through the doe, from the rear to the nose, for ease of birthing. Also, since you are really wanting WHITE look for really pink skin. Old time goat owner told me the orange skin usually has a recessive color.

She's very pretty! Where was that picture taken? I love the stone barn in the background, how I would love to have a barn like that here!

She has bad feet and she wont grow into a large goat, see how her leg bones are not equal in perportion? thats a signal that she may be long but never tall and her udder will possibly be more condensed but I am still learning how leg relates to udder I missed that he nose says she should be nice and open in the back.
Shes not going to win the show but i think shes a worthy doe to work with and will earn her keep in the bucket.

She looks to be growthy (if the handler is that tall!) and of good weight, nice topline. Only thing I see is lack of brisket extension and toes not very tight. And yes, the front cannon bones are short. So look for a ND buck that would be strong in those areas.

Her shoulders could be better (I am being very critical of shoulders at this time though. ). She still seems quite small even with that size handler. Ask the breeder how much she weighs, or if she is close enough, go with a weight tape when you look at her. A young full-size doe should be birth weight plus 10 lbs per month of age, MINIMUM. I realize it seems weird that size would be a deterrent when choosing goats for a mini breeding program, but you want something healthy, strong and vigorous. I about LOL'd at the comment on finding a ND buck with long cannon bones to correct hers. Good luck with that! In my experience, it's easier to find a full size goat with exaggerated bone length in the legs than a Nigerian with adequately sized cannon bones, to get the right length there. She doesn't have much depth of jaw, and her feet look like they could use some improvement. You CAN find Nigerians with really nice feet fairly easily, and depth tends to not be much of an issues in Nigi's. So, all in all, she may be a good brood doe for you, or she may not. You wont' really know until or unless you try her. I have seen some really beautiful kids come from pretty mediocre does.
