Buck too.....short

I have a full-grown Saanen in heat and just put our 6 month old Saanen buck in to breed her. He is a couple inches too short to reach. Does that mean I shouldn't breed them? Or try to? They both want it to work but.....it ain't.

I didn't know what I was getting into when we got goats.

Thanks saanengirl!

that or get a couple of bales of hay/straw for him to stand on to help mounting.

Around here, overturned half barrels, hay bales, stumps... are all termed LSDs... Logistical Support Devices. Our ND buck is about half the size of the standard does we've bred this year. He has mastered the art!

A Pygmy buck "dating" a full sized Nubian doe is a sight to see! lol BUT it can be done and usually is done. Provide some raised areas for him or a hole for her and you will be amazed at how clever they are when the call of nature overwhelms them!! If they weren't so smart, there would be no Kinders!

This has NOTHING to do with goats, but it reminded me of one of the funniest AND saddest things I ever saw...a Chihuahua trying to do the deed with a setter/shepherd mix. She just laid there, looking back over her shoulder as if to say "REALLY???".

We had a serious discussion about how to facilitate his amorous intent, but, alas, it was not to be...she spurned him in favor of the mongrel across the road with the bad-boy swagger.

*giggle* Have this with my new little buck too....

But like Hippygirl - it also sounds like my tiny banty rooster on top of my BIG FLUFFY cochin hen! She finally just stood up and started walking away - all he could "get" was a piggyback ride !!! *LMAO*
