goat breeding question

Hi, I am a newbie goat owner and we are looking into breeding our goats. We have eyes on a buck , the only thing is, his father is also grandfather to one of our does, is it okay to breed them together and can the offspring still be registered as long as both parents are registered?

Thanks again!!

You can plug names into the ADGA breeding planner to get an accurate calculation of inbreeding. Sharing a grandfather is not a lot of inbreeding, especially if all other lines in the pedigree are unrelated. It'd be a good idea to check to make sure that grandfather was a good animal without defects since you will be getting a double genetic dose more the equivalent of a sire.
