Just lost a goat
I had checked on them at 9:00 am and then at 11:00 am I found her dead. Vet yes is was freak accident, some how she got on her back and sufficated. I feel like a very bad momma, as the Vet said "You can't be out there 24/7". But I feel so bad, if I had checked on them earlier. I'm playing the what if game. Having a hard day.

That is so tough! You cannot control everything or be there every minute...just doesn't work that way...don't beat yourself up. We all have to accept that they are goats!!

I have one that loves to get one her back and scratch back and forth. But then I have seen her kicking for a minute to right herself. I don't understand why it is so hard for them to roll back over but it seems it is for some.
I'm sorry for your loss.

Sometimes I am amazed at the amount of bad luck that concerned and proper goat owners have. It seems they go to all kinds of effort to make their barns, fences, etcetera goat safe and see their animals manage to find a way to get caught, hung, cut and otherwise injured in the most bizzare ways.
Then I see other goat owners that raise their goats in places there is everything from broken glass to sharp rusty junk around everywhere. Places I would be carefull walking though, in case I might trip and get impaled by some old farm implement turned upside-down. Their goats never seem to have any problems
I'm sure there is a corollary to Murphy's Law some place that covers this.

Thanks everyone, I know I can't be there 24/7. It was just a shock when I found her. I'm really trying not to do, the what if game. Thanks again for your kind words.
