Boer is also what an intact male pig is called. Just means the sow could be pregnant.

Yes a pig is a boar.
A type of goat is a boer.

I guess not all boer goats are sensitive about mating with "others.' Frosted Mini ran into some really picky bucks recently (see her post on racism among goats)
