Opinions on 3 year old never exposed to buck

I found a 3 year old that a lady owns. She is PB Nubian and has lived by herself since she got her in 2010 as a bottle baby. Do you think she will breed? I was thinking if she lived this long without any companionship, then she must be pretty healthy. Thoughts? She comes from CAE and CL free herd but hasn't been tested.

Hormones kick in and she'll be as likely to breed as any other doe.

She should. I have done that before though and I think it does cut down on the amount the doe gives.

She should breed with no problem. The one issue you might watch for is how heavy she is. If they've packed on a lot of extra pounds it makes that first kidding more difficult. This has been my experience in always breeding yearlings instead of kids. And some of them get fat on air!!

If she isn't fat, hopefully she'll take.

My herd queen was a dry 3yr old when she was first bred. She never had any issues getting bred and went on to have several sets of triplets in the years to come (we always joked she was making up for lost time ). I would think if your doe is in good flesh (just not TOO good of flesh ) and in good health there is no reason why she won't get bred. I know people who have had FF 5yr old and 6yr old does and as far as I know neither does had issues.

I passed. I couldn't find any tattoo in either ear. Plus I've got a buck with bigger teats than she had. She was pretty and healthy looking though.

It's all about teats and udders. Good decision.
