Selling all my goats
I have to sell all my goats. All my babies! I hyper ventilate with just the thought. We will be moving to Texas to a suburb. No animals allowed per hoa.
Help me be ok with selling off my babies.

My goodness, that's terrible! I would rather be homeless than ever live in an HOA ever again. I can't stand how in your business everyone is in those places. I am sorry to hear you are having to give up your animals-- I wouldn't be able to do it.
I don't know what your circumstances are but I hope you find some peace with whatever is going on. And in the mean time I will be feeling your pain.

Oh, sweetie... {hug}
Why are you going to TX?
I don't know how to make it okay for you to sell off the stock, but they would be really miserable if you dressed them in human clothing and tried to pass them off as your family.

We are moving to dallas tx for my husbands work. I'm panicked. I do not do well in big city's. we lived in a trailer park before we moved here.it was only like 50 trailers at most. And I only had 2 kids. I lost my mind! I'm not a city girl. Jobs are not too good here do to all the gooberment down sizing. Military are looking for work ontop of all the local people. We a family of 10 are living on $15 per hour before taxes. I stretch everything. My husband has the chance to start out at 20 per hour in Texas. With benefits. We don't have them here.
We haven't closed on the house. Dh has to fly down the 22-27th. I hate hoa's. they will hate us period. I have 8 country kids. They run naked or half naked here. That's their normal attire. My kids are full of energy and run everywhere. They are not mindless zombies that play video games.
I pray we will find a big house on property that I can get animals. But I have to sell all my goats, cattle ,and equipment. I'm so sad!

I feel your pain, I really do. In the past 5 years I have moved from CA to GA to FL to TX back to GA and now we are back in FL... not to mention two moves during our previous stint in FL.
I always found rentals and properties where I could have my animals but sometimes it's just not really realistic with potential commute times for the husband. I hope you guys can find someplace nice where you can either take animals with you or get ones down there when you settle.
It sounds like a good opportunity money wise-- though I have to say from experience-- husband and I decided to drop the six figure job because the suburban life was simply unhealthy for our kids and for us. Now I know we could live on a whole lot less and be comfortable and we have gotten ourselves debt free so we can take risks and say no when we have to. If this job is a stepping stone to being able to say no some day and steer your own ship? That is worth some sacrifice, trust me it is!

(((HUGS!!!))) We went through that. A few times. I don't know how to make it all better for us, so I can't tell you how to make it work. Just hold onto the dream, though. It's not a dead dream, it just has to be on the back burner, simmering, for a while. That's what I had to tell myself, time and time again. Part of the way to do that is to keep doing as much as you can for yourself. Visit local farms, buy produce direct, visit pick your owns, make cheese at home, whatever you do, keep on doing it.
And hopefully HTers near you will be able to help you rehome your goats. That's an awful, awful feeling, but if you can find people you "know" to take them, it feels better in the end. You will still feel a connection to your animals, and know they are being cared for.

Sending you all my hope and good thoughts that i can muster in this moment!
Hang in there. If you havent closed yet on a house, PLS try to stay away from a HOA-- we were under one for 20 years-- they usu have provisions on noise and supervision of loose children, etc.... not to mention what curtains you are allowed to buy, fencing (if anything) allowed, and pets...
Try to avoid one at all costs it is Worth your peace of mind and may affect whether or not your husbands new job transition is successful....

OMG Myheaven, I'm so sad about your having to let go of what you've got there. I know a good job is hard to find now days and your hubby is fortunate. Still there is always pain in such a relocation.
((hugs)) sending good vibes your way so as to help you cope with finding homes for your goats.

I seen a house on 30 acres but it was 1.2 million! I haven't won the lotto. Can't afford that on 20 an hour.
Any dallas area folks wanna help me find a country home! My crew of country kids will be happy to have trees to climb!

WOW, I couldn't even bear the thought of a Dallas suburb! There are places that are a bit further out to the east that are reasonably priced, but don't know if he can commute from them.

45-60 min out from dallas is perfect for us. He drives 25-30 miles for work at this moment. He would prefer cool down time any way. Lindafisk from the boards have given me some small town names we have been searching. We do need a bigger house. Our current house is so painfully small for our large family. We will keep looking. I will know more soon I hope!
I will get pictures today.

Don't be hasty in buying. Your DH might rent an apt so he can work while you are looking for a good place. www.realtor.com is a good source. Go to Bing maps and find the names of towns, then plug into advance search and specify up to 20 miles, and put in the acreage needed. You can see the best topo maps on lands of america. Just search for the county of interest and go to their maps. (You'll have to open a listing and look at the map on that listing, then scroll the map around.) Find the location on the "map" button then switch to "topo". You may need to look at the "sat" as well and compare to the location map on realtor.com so you get the right property. It is good to have some bottom land so you will have grass even in dry times, but you need some high ground too for the home and barn. Most of those areas will allow mobile homes so look at acreage without existing homes too.
Wish I was closer there, my place is available, but not listed at the moment.

I have found a lot of good things on craigslist, three places I've lived and my husband so that will be my recommendation. Trulia is a good resource as well. Make sure you scope out areas with the satellite pics on Google and have the husband drive through prospective neighborhoods too make sure they look animal compatible.

Also, get as many realtor listings online as possible, and pay attention to acreage vs House (well you know stay firm on things like 2 bathrooms etc... and remember that if there is a dining room and a living room, that there could be an extra bedroom)-- we found our house - the description wasnt accurate, it only listed 1 bathroom but had 2 and had the land we wanted, the photo was really crummy-- drove by "just to see" on our own, and liked it, and then found a realtor to sell it to us....
If you, can ( I know its the school year) load up the kids and drive around and look at listings you download online-- or-- you look through them online and have your DH drive around and look (you may look thru a 100 listings but its worth it)....

Please be very careful of Craiglslist listings. I would run into so many horrible scams on there. Especially the one where the owner tells you to go look in the windows because they are out of town. Bah....
