The Project

I added webwire fencing to the perimeter of the property. I am adding 5 more stalls to the barn for the goats to get out of the weather and to be able to isolate easier. I moved the horses to the goat pasture to let them eat the Bermuda grass down. I moved the goats to the horse pasture. So it's the best of both worlds. The goats are having a blast with all the weeds and I'm rotating pastures. Took a few pics. Will take more as we go. O yea, they needed a new place to get out of the rain.

Pretty cool. Adding wire fencing to board fence is so much easier than starting from scratch. That barn is looking pretty cool!

Yes it is and it's pretty sturdy too. I do have about 700' that all I had was 14 posts and two strands of hot wire to keep the horses in.

I had a budget on the barn addition. It looks like I am going to spend twice as much as the budget. So I may have to stop before I want to.

Hammers 'n' nails 'n' saws be flyin' around at your place! I see you have LOTS of help from the critters, too!

Great pictures Doug! I love the ones with the goats all hiding from the rain. Looks like it's a huge project that will be wonderful when you are done!

As usual, never any help from the goats. Did they pull everything out of your toolbox for you?

Well aren't WE ambitious! I'm all envy.

Your fencing looks a lot like ours, wood lined with panels. Goats CAN be contained, but you do have to build a fortress.

I recognize a lot of the same critters too. We have the same geese, and the same long legged chickens.

Wish i could say we had the same barn, though! We don't have as many goats, and those that we have resign to calf domes against the rain and weather in our parts. They work well though, and are easy to move.

Go for it Doug!

Lookin good, and fun for goaties to play on all that stuff, but also kind of looks like an accident waiting to happen while in the "construction" phase.

A little note: I had a BIG doe hang herself when her collar (like yours) got caught on the top of a chain-link fence....NO it did not break! Just saying..........

The crew got a whole lot done on the barn today but I forgot to take pictures. Instead I took pictures of the new boy and all the girls.

Nice looking barn; and your goats look quite satisfied with your layout...horses too.

Must say, that first pic where your goats are standing on your wood made my heart skip as I thought....oh no, that wood won't be clean for long. (That's the way it went around here until I created a place to store wood where the goats could not enter.)
