Cool Proof that goats are too smart!!!

So for last week we have been having trouble with horses escaping the pasture and goats getting out of their area too. The electric fence was not working and so the animals just ran right thru it. We patched up fence and found the elec charger was unplugged. We plugged back in and all was good for exactly 24 hrs. Again all animals out and fences down. Again hubby finds elec charger UNPLUGGED. We figure out the goaties are unplugging the charger. The electric string then is useless and everyone has a great time. So hubby fixes fence again and makes it so goats can't unplug charger. Next day fence is down AGAIN!!! Horses in driveway. Goats in horse pasture. Everyone having a party! We go out to fix it again. Charge is still plugged in but...the goats had pulled out the grounding rod. OMG they are soooo smart.

Okay, you've got to hide in the bushes with a camera! Remember, it didn't happen without pictures and this is on the level of the Chik-Fil-A cows and Far Side animals!

Goats are BRILLIANT! We came home one night in the midst of a nasty storm to find our bottle baby had gotten out of her pen, into the fenced front yard, squeezed thru the dog door, jumped the baby(dog) gate, pulled the knob on the old console style tv which turned it on and was reclining in our child sized recliner watching said tv. :-)

Later in life, she would push my kids plastic slide under a tree, climb the ladder and stand at the top and eat everything she could reach, and then slide down and move it to another spot. Using that method she kept all the trees trimmed where we never had to worry about ducking under branches.

Mine must not be that smart either! Sure sounds comical the way you tell the story but I'm sure very frustrating too, sure hope you & hubby got it figured out now so everyone stays where their supposed too!

Last winter my girls would close the sliding door at night! However, on occasion, one doe would be left out. Yea lots of screaming until I went out and let her in. They would open the door in the morning to go out too.

I put a clip on the one side to lock it open so they would stop that.

I'm almost afraid to say that my goats believe 4' woven wire will keep them in.

Then again, maybe they're just playing me for the fool. They COULD escape if they wanted to, but see no reason to. For now...
