Feeding Left overs??

Ok quick question thoughts on soy bean plants parts, extra potatoes including sweet potatoes and the leaves and stems? Was harvesting the sweet potatoes and read that the green leaves are good to eat...my mom threw them to the goats no one died and they devoured them. But we have LOTS of potatoes that will go bad before we can use...

Also farmer joe planted soybeans this year right next to us if my ladies got out and ate some safe or sorry?

I let the goats loose in the cowpea patch, and they loved it. That was, of course, back when we had a good crop of cowpeas. Hmph.

Maybe next year...

But I don't know about soy.

Sweet potatoes should be fine. Can you put them up, or dehydrate them, or store them in damp sand?

well its not so much the sweet potatoes this is the first year I tried to grow some and lets just say some were ummmm pinky size the girls loved them. Was hesitant with the regular white potatoes maybe I just give them to the chickens. Even to much of a good thing can become bad.
So as far as feeding soy which is what vegetable oil is (soy oil) its suppose to be good for women was wondering about female goats...hmmm maybe I have to much time to think while driving a school bus LOL

My goat Pony eats some of the soybean plants in the field we walk by sometimes...He doesn't pig out on them cuz I call him out. It hasn't caused him any problems

Potatoes are a member of the nightshade family. I have fed them too with no problems before. Now I play it safe and don't feed them. Compost only.

If it's white spuds, I only feed those - cooked - to the rabbits. Haven't considered them for the goats. And I would not feed the greens from potatoes or tomatoes or peppers to anyone.

We don't feed potato, tomato or pepper tops to anyone. Too risky.

I didn't know that about potatoes. I gave my goats a whole bag to entertain them while we were camping. They loved the peels but didn't touch the starchy part much. My chickens went bonkers for them though.

Along with tomatoes. One only needs to be concerned about the foliage.
