Question Shared fence line

Okay, I know they say not to do it, but I am wondering how many of you have a shared fence line between the does and the bucks.

I am wanting to redo my cattle panels and it sure would give a little more room if they shared a fence. Can you put tin on the bottom to keep away those accidental breedings? Oh yes, my bucks don't go over the cattle panels, just worried about them breeding through it.

Any ideas?

chick wire? not chicken, chick (smaller holes) tied onto the cattle panels. or that wielded wire that has only small rectangle spacing? one or two strands of hot wire on the buck and/or does side to keep them "off" the fence? take thin green tree limbs and intertwine them through the panels like a basket (goats may nibble at them, but unless they r like a beaver, wont EAT through them...) this one would take LOTS of time and effort, but if you have the branches, it would be virtually free...

Can you put a 2nd line of fence 2 - 3 ft from the first? Creating a "buffer zone"?

One year I had three does kid that had NOT been put in with the bucks. That was the last year they shared a single fence line.

That is what we did this year... Here, girls and guys can actually see each other for the first time during breeding season... Praying our buffer works against flying sperm!
