Update on Sick Goat

I'm getting ready to go out and tend to her but thought I'd give everyone an update. We are tubing her liquids and electrolyes. Berta is spending most of her time standing. Yesterday she started moving her tongue around and was a little more responsive when we talked to her. She still keeps her head hanging down, but has started to move it back and forth. She took a sip of water and swallowed, which gave us a little hope. The only thing that concerns me is one of her eyes is now cloudy.

How long does it take for the symptoms of listeriosis to start to fade? I guess my biggest fear is she isn't going to get better and we are prolonging her suffering. Is the any type of rough timeline?

Thank you all for your advice and encouragement! Berta and I really appreciate is!

I don't know that I have Listeriosis experience per se. I have had plenty of polio, though. This thread was my first and worse case: Down Doeling .

If I recall, we had about 7 days of intense treatment. She was totally paralyzed for 24 hours. On her side for a few more days, and unable to get on her feet for the whole week. She was off feed that whole time, and we had to tube her. B1, B1, lots of B1. She fully recovered, but it was slow. The morning I discovered her, I had never seen such a malady. I had the .22 pointed at her head, but for some reason I couldn't do the deed. Just today I received this text message from my daughter during her morning chores:

Ivy is bred

They can recover. Push the B1.

I'm with Abe, as I said on the other thread, our girl was DOWN on the ground for 3 weeks. My daughter did physical therapy while the poor girl SCREAMED from the pain. She, too, is fully recovered and awaiting the buck!
