Picked up an Oat Bucket Farm buck today
It is such a small world. DD and I were picking up a new buck(ling) this morning and I noticed his sire was from Oat Bucket Farm.

Ok. I will need more details. That doesn't mean anything to me. And it didn't happen without pics.

Woot! Wondering if you were just up the road from me? We sold an awesome Oat Bucket boy along with some great Crossroads End girls to a neighbor...
Have to say I am most curious!
Yep. Had to be. The ADGA pedigree search only shows two goaties with Oat Bucket Farm in their name, our sweet Ronan Locronan and Almond Joy. Great goats! Bet the dam was a Crossroads End girl with Forrest Pride MC Monkey lines! Those girls have a great history. My son won Grand Champ with a Monkey daughter in 2011. We sold a Monkey granddaughter to the neighbor and they won Grand Champ at the fair in 2012. This year, my son won Reserve Grand Champ with a Monkey granddaughter (full sister to the 2012 Grand Champ) and the neighbor's son won Grand Champ with a younger full sister (nieces to the 2011 Grand Champ). Their dam was our sweet girl, Pepper, who was lost to an accident just a week and a half ago.
Small world! You have an awesome goat there! Congratulations!

Is that the same group I was in before I left FB?

TinMom, The fella I took your boy to the other day was very happy as was my Lamancha friend in OK. She is going to take a doe that I am getting from her over and have her bred to him so I can have kids from him too! PLUS, I told him that when he was finished with him...I'd take him back! W00t!!

Glad to hear it! He was a nice looking guy! If I hadn't kept his brother last year, I would have kept him. Brother threw some excellent kids this year. We have been really happy with him. It was great to see you this week!

You know, I am just a little slow on the uptake. I should pay more attention to the tag lines around here. Crossroads End is all over his pedigree. Before I called on the CL ad, I had you in the back of my mind because of the location. When I was talking to your neighbor, she told me of the Forrest Pride in him. That only sounded vaguely familiar, but DW was all over me for not knowing. Our Java, who was first in line for this buck, has quite a bit of Forrest Pride stock. That ADGA genetics planning tool is pretty cool, by the way.
So yes, now I am doubly excited to know of yet another HT connection to our herd!
Photos tomorrow, I hope. Today was exhausting. Does are coming into heat like crazy, so trips to the goat domain are frequent. I'll try to remember to take a pic in the evening.

The genetics planning tool is amazing! Decided to keep your boy's uncle after Peeps passed away last week because five of the top ten contributors on genetics when breeding him to a doe we have here include Moby, her son, her sire and a Moby granddaughter as well as Fir Meadow Soon Wildwood.
Looking forward to pics! BTW, My son is the one on the left in the CL ad and the goat he is holding is Oat's Crossroads End Lady Antebellum, otherwise known as Belly Bean! When Oat sold out, we bought Belly back since we wanted a Pepper daughter. Now that Peeps is gone, I can't tell you how glad I am that we did!
