Thinking about getting out of dairy goats.

We are thinking about selling our goat herd. Thing is I would really like to sell them as a package deal and I have no idea what they are worth. So I thought I would ask the professionals.......you!

We have American Oberhasli goats 4 does who are all currently being hand milked once a day giving between 1-2 quarts each. When they are newly fresh they peak near and barely above a gallon. All are well behaved on the milk stand and used to being led and worked with, feet trimmed, etc. Some have been used as 4H projects and one has been to an ADGA show and has a championship win, so she only needs two more wins to get her credentials. We also have a high quality buck we purchased from a well known herd. They are nice healthy and healthy looking goats.

What do you think they would be worth like on craigslist? Thanks all

I have those thoughts time to time then I go out and sit with my girls, the guilt of them possibly winding up in a bad home plus the peacefull feeling I have with them sets me strait.
Goats are not going to get max price this time of year, nothing in livestock does. I have more luck with Facebook as far as sales and quality of buyers.
Obors are one of my favourite other breeds, their color is my favourite pattern on any goat.. too bad i wasnt in the market for another breed.

Looks like I should get some pictures taken.....does anyone have any suggestions on what they are worth. I tried googling Oberhasli herd for sale and there really isn't much out there to compare it with.

For all these Missouri people, where in KS are you located?

We had an Oberhaslis for awhile, she was great. We prefer LaManchas and are reducing our herd, otherwise it would be tempting....

Here are some random pictures I took this morning.Thinking about getting out of dairy goats. - Goats

The udder is of our best milker. She peaked at a gallon and a quart this year and last. Her daughter did about the same this year and has been difficult to get dried up. Her other daughter who is a first freshener this year still needs to mature some her udder is on the small side, but I expect her to pick up the pace next year, both her mother and sister worked like that. 3 of them gave me a quart today and one of them gave me a quart and a half. We are currently drying them up. I don't like to milk through the winter. The boy is from Heaven's Hollow. We have been happy with him. He is well behaved and loves the ladies.

Your pics need to be loaded to Photobucket or a similar photo hosting website, then copy the URL to here.

I love my Obers.

What are their ages, and how many freshenings has each doe had? How old is the buck? Are they CAE free?

The very first Ober does we got tested positive for CAE we pulled their babies sold them to knowing owners and raised the babies on CAE prevention. We have tested negative every year for 5-6 years. The oldest 5-6, 4, 3, 1. The boy is around 3. The does have freshened every year since they were one or a little over. The 1 year old is actually 1 1/2 and has had her first freshening.

I'd ask 1000 for all. Maybe 1500 depending on if the buck's parents were on test and appraised and did well.

Nice looking goats. I'm not a good judge. I've given anywhere from nothing to $600 per goat.

the pictures do help, but there are many variables like pedigrees and such that make up for the prices.
I will say they look a lot better than what goes for $4-600 each here but I wouldnt be inclined to pay more than $250-300 each for them hence why I dont have them "yet" . I would be willing to buy them for your asking price today, however there is just more than a few hundred miles between us and I can not travel right now as I work 6 days a week
