impromptu goatie road trip this weekend (added Pictures)

Hubby (trucker) came in on saturday afternoon.. turns out he was getting to stay until this morning.. SO.. saturday morning, when I saw our very own Cannon-Farm had placed an ad on FB, for some Saada lined, black & white SPOTTED bucklings.. I was intrigued.. I'm adding SAADA this spring.. I like blk & wht spots.. SO??? of course I inquired..just casual.. finding out a bit more info..pedigrees.. age ect.. a few pm's later.. a deal was struck..

fast forward 18 hours later.... loaded up the goat tote into the pickup .. hubby and I head out for GA.. spent the night in AL.. got up. Met Cannon-farm and her hubby at a Pilot in GA. (she is a sweetie)... headed back to the Ozarks..

... I bought not just the black & white (big white spots) buckling with the ALL saada sire line (that I contacted her about).. but yet another black with smaller white spots guy.. again, all saada sire line on top.. BUT.. ALSO. a black roan with a white belly band (he too has some Saada on top).. some really interesting lines on the dam's side.. I know work well with my does.. SO, YES.. I brought home Not, 1.. not 2.. but 3 !!!! new nicely bred, black & white spot makers (I can never keep up with all the reserves for black & white spotted kids..just never have as many as folks want.. and I hate to disappoint anyone) NOW??? by next year, we should have all sorts of spotted kids (still with the bloodlines/style that I like LOL) Did I **NEED** three.. maybe not, but I'd sold down to just Cold, Walker & Edge.. Bill Lee Gumbo is just a april kid, as are 2 of the ones I brought home.. one is an early feb kid, but is getting rutty.. his name was Rupert. but the kids renamed him Giles (after Buffy the Vampire's slayer's watcher Rupert Giles)... the boys are in quarantine for the next month (yes, I quarantine EVERYONE I bring home.. even from someone we all *know*) but I'll see if I can get jess to take some pictures later today.. it's crazy here.. just moved all the goats to new barns/pens.. 5 does need their PG600 shots today... Have a sold (awaiting pickup) yearling buck.. *singing* as in SCREAMING at my weanling does... so keeping an eye on him, making sure he is staying put..can't have any unplannned little girl pregnancies!!! SO??? we took about a 1200 miles unplanned road trip for the weekend.. what did y'all do???? LOL

((poor, but oh so dear & sweet hubby.. got home last night..he did some laundry..went to bed.. got up.. loaded up and headed out this morning.. not much time to visit.. no time to rest up.. but he was cheerful and supportive and listened to hours of nubian bloodline chit chat (that he knows NOTHING about LOL)... OH.. and he gave me the money to buy the 3rd one!!..never once did he complain about the drive or the goats.. he's a keeper))

adding pictures.. scroll down

Nothing much...went to goat show in Memphis...took 23 goats (24 if you count the poor preggo girl I took with and kept in the trailer because she was due last Saturday!) AND 7 children and hubby, camped out Sunday night and DD brought home 2 Grand Champion wins and a Res. Grand Champion (NDs, of course), and got to visit with a bunch of wonderful goat friends! Good times!

I too think she has lovely goats... her ad was on her Facebook page, tho not CL.. the chance to add some Saada (while I wait.. what feels like the never ending wait.. for their kidding season to get going.. so I can find out what they have and if all 3 of the ones I'm wanting are born or not)

susie, impatient in the ozarks

I'll make Jess go take some (it's her camera.. and I end up with my thumb in the pictures if I take them LOL).... not sure what she'll get.. they are still in a pen in the barn for today.. taking them to the vet for a once over on thurs morning..then I'll put them in the outdoor/indoor quarantine area.. where pictures will be easier to take..

Hey Susie,
While you were taking your road trip, we took one of our own, Monday, all around Missouri looking at farms. The last one we looked at, after already driving about 350 miles here and there around the state was just off of E down towards Couch. We were going to call Alice and say "Hi" but we forgot to bring her phone number (again . Never thought we would get this far south as the last place we looked at was over by Silva).

I thought we had TB, but our road trip was nothing compared to yours.

I've wanted to add SAADA for a long time.. this year was finally the year where I had the chance to add from ANY herd...it was a non-brainer for me.. I instantly went SAADA shopping.. (started out just looking to buy a buck.. after talking to her.. I ended up reserving 2 doelings & the buckling) nice thing is.. the boys I bought home this weekend... while they have a lot of SAADA ..it's not the same does that I chose to put reserves on.. BUT.. it is ones that should mix well back & forth and back & forth.. between these guys.. edge, Walker and the boy this spring.. (not to mention the Twyla/Edge son I kept from spring).. we should be set up for lots of years of breedings..... Oh.. talking about different bloodlines.. we are Ai'ing Gloomy this weekend.. with Ch. Kastdemur's Most Wanted semen .... sure hoping that she takes..

And I look forward to picking up a buck or a doe or both from you from those lines along the way. You know how my wife and I like those spots.

So, I am having regrets already but it was the bucks or my husband leaves for the rest of fall He gets sick to his stomach and light headed at the smell of bucks, these boys where not even that bad and he felt sick all the way home.
I am so glad yall made it back safely I was worried about that front we had coming in. I really wish it wasnt so far away and we could have talked goat for a while had it not been raining we probably could have for a while.
The boys look like they are settling in well all three of them are very nice boys just spots tend to pop and attract more attention, "boaz" actually did the best via appraisal I feel very lucky for Creamers and Stock farms to have sold me these guys it just bites for me that I had to get rid of them but I dont think I could have found a better home for the big stinkers.

I'm anxious to see the lines you bring in. I have a lot of Kastdemur's Full Service in several of my lines. And I hope Gloomy's breeding takes as well. I would love to see what those kids look like. Of course any solid black doeling is more than welcome to join my herd.
