what do YOU use for cleaning the milk stuff

I am new to the goat world and need some advice. I have all the milking equipment, now how do I clean it. In the Storey's guide to goat it talks about alkaline and acid detergents. What are these and where do I get them? But I'm curious to know what people in the goat trenches use. And what do you use to clean the goat gutters (as my 6 year old calls them)? Thoughts?

We buy the stuff from Hoeggers. Use a separate drainer, scrubber, etc. It works really good, but is expensive (I think).

I use the acid wash and the dairy soap from this kit.

You can get the dairy cleansers but we use standard dollar store dish detergent and it works fine. You'll need some 3m Scotchbrite type pads too and some brushes. Yes, you will get some milkstone and it will need some additional elbow work scrubbing things out. Dollar store Bon Ami type stuff works good too. Or you can order the acids and do that. The only pace the acids really shine, IMO, is in cleaning the tubes on a milking machine.
