Poor eyesite in old doe?

I guess any animal can go blind or have other vision problems. I have my old Mama Betty, unsure on age (She still has all her front teeth last time I checked, but a very long horn-the other was broken off shortly before we got her and I hate to think how horns that mature break off). She gets around fine and is the co-herd queen with a larger younger Nubian cross that respects her, but I've been noticing for awhile when I put her bucket of grain down under her, she sometimes has a hard time finding it. Her eyes look clear. Perhaps just her old age?

Unlike humans, most non-predator animals have eyes on the sides of their heads, and can't see close up in front of themselves. They usually go by touch and smell

It is much more important to them to have a wide view on both sides to see danger.

If she is alert in the field, I would think it much more likely she is losing her sense of smell.

Great thought, why didn't I think of that? Thank you.
