Those of you from Missouri
How is everyone with all the flash flooding going on?
Our creek has washed out road out and there is a huge gravel bar washed onto the bridge.
The next town over flooded really badly and lots of roads and highways are closed around Ft Leonard Wood.

We are between Steelville and Salem and up high. Also, we are up above the Crooked Creek Crater (documented) so, we are high and dry and also the crater causes some kind of effect that keeps the heaviest rain all around us, but not on us. We are plenty wet, but in a good way. Now, when we go out this week it will be interesting to see if we can get to Rolla or other places where we have to cross the Meremec or some other large stream of water!

Haven't gone out farther than the milk house. I figure I couldn't get to the blacktop, even if I wanted to.

we are snug and safe.. We live on top of one of the higher hills.. rain runs off well.. so far all the barns are still nice & dry.. granted, I doubt we could go more then a mile any direction.. as there are low spots that flood... so it will probably turn into a movie afternoon..
everyone stay safe

Its not just Missouri. I am in MOuntain Home and we had a mild Tornado last night and lost large limbs off my yard trees. My biggest tree in front lost most of one side. I lost a tree in my field. My garage flooded and my property slopes. The water was over ankle deep running off my hill last night. The ditches were overflowing the road. My chicken coops were blown all around. My feed troughs and trash cans were blown everywhere. My neighbor had his fence damaged and lost several trees. As I was driving out (I live on a dead end road) I took another route to check around and just about everyone around my neck of the woods lost trees and had tree damage. We had quite a storm.
Forgot about my barns. They flooded. MY chicken coops all flooded too.

I'm north and east of Susie, still in Oregon County. The mail truck made it through.
Getting caught up on paperwork. Called off the work crew for today.

Wish y'all would share some. We haven't gotten much more than a sprinkle in the last few weeks. Things are starting to get dry here. We did have a decent shower this morning, but not nearly as much as we need. It is weird hearing about the flooding going on all around us.

When we went into West Plains today there was water over JJ in places Ms Connie says that it never had been before in the 30 years she has lived here. The water was really high at the bridges, too.
Doug Hodges, hope you where able to save some of your animal pens and houses

I am farmsitting for a friend south of Mountain grove, so wasn't home last night. I left here after chores(about 7 am), headed home to milk my goats. The gravel roads are pitted, rutted and simply washed away in areas. It was a very slow drive. Got to Beaver creek and couldn't even cross if I had a truck(I'm driving my little car). Had to turn around, go back to town and come in to my place the back way. Almost couldn't do that with the roads being so flooded. After a 45 minute detour, I made it home. Everyone is fine, goats are not happy, but they are dry. Dogs are wet but happy. Keeping Patience(puggle) with me so she doesn't try to cross the normally calm trickle which is now a raging flood at least 10 feet deep. Don't think she is that stupid, but do NOT want to find out! I'm feeding hay to my does, cause there is no way they are going out in the flooded pastures and wooded areas. We are soooooooo wet. Its monsoon season in the Ozarks!!
Watch for worm issues with this wet weather in the middle of summer. Its perfect for them. But after the drought last year, I'm not complaining!

It's pretty dry up here on the Ridge, but the roads are badly rutted.
I was worried heading out to see patients in Gainesville area. There was a pretty nasty rollover on 160, just inside Ozark County. There was mud on the road, just around a bend.
Last year at this time, we were soooooooooo dry. Not this year. I fear the garden will be a total wash (pun intended). Like last year, the only plants thriving are the sweet peppers.

Emily, are you talking about the creek by Calus' place? If you couldn't get through there, how bad was crossing at Van Zant creek (the infamous "truck dip creek")?

I didn't lose a bird. The chicken pen that was hit the hardest and rolled was empty at the time. I guess a tornado jumped my house. The neighbors behind and in front had lots more damage than I did. The top of my tallest tree was twisted out. About 20' of it was lost. It isn't going to look to bad. It basically topped it out. My garage and barns are still soaked. It rained off and on today. Need some sunshine to dry things out. Luckily all my hay and feed are elevated, in plastic and steel containers and in my barn that's on a foundation and has a floor.

We've had perfect rain here. Slow and soaking, no flooding.

No flooding but plenty wet in Johnson County .
Expecting scattered thunder showers tonight. Hearing reports of road closures and evacuations in Waynesville.

The big bridge, yep thats the one that was seriously flooded. As I stood there watching the roaring water go past, I watched two of my neighbors with big trucks trying to get to work. Both of them decided to turn around, miss a day of work but live to work another day! That creek goes down pretty fast, though it is scary when it is up.
Vanzant creek was the one I was talking about, the one that is normally a trickle and now raging waters about 10 feet deep(less at the road ford) up at the cows crossing. Impossible to cross in anything this morning, though Jason was able to cross tonight in his truck. Still cannot in my car. So frustrating to be just across the creek, but have to take M all the way back to town and around the other way to get to the farm! With the roads washed out, its a 45 minute drive.
So thankful for the expensive set of 4 brand new tires I just put on. They are getting a testing!

Yes, I think a little child drowned in a flooded creek near Waynesville.

Oh my gosh, it has rained extremely hard all night. I will not be going anywhere for days due to being flooded in.
My son's girlfriend is in early labor and their basement apartment has 2" of water on the floors. My boys' father had a major heart attack 2 nights ago and is in ICU on the vent. The stress here is running extremely high.
The 4 year old that drowned was in a car with his mother and it was swept away. They haven't found his mother's body yet or and additional 2 or 3 people that were also in the car.
There are bridges washed away, downtown Waynesville has been evacuated.
Unbelievable!

I am hearing of all the terrible news down south of us. Was planning on heading down that way today, but I guess there is flooding everywhere. To the east of us they are having trouble too, here the crops would be withering if not for the cooler than normal temperatures. It is amazing what a few miles difference makes.
Hang in there all of you around I44 and south, the radar looks like you are getting blasted again today.
Be safe when thinking about crossing those creeks!

I saw the line of storms coming on the radar this morning, and I tried to get the milking and feeding done in time. Didn't work.

Wow. We need all this rain to build the water tables back up but not all at once.
