Copper in Canada
I've never posted before and now I post twice in a day! Issue is I THINK I may have a copper deficiency problem and you can't buy copper oxide in Canada (at least I can't find any and the US suppliers say they aren't allowed to ship it to Canada). I've bought some Copper Sulphate and the warning labels are freaking me out! Need some advice.
I've read all I can find on copper deficiencies and I think some of my does & doelings are deficient. (Rough coats even in 3 month-old doelings, loss of colour in coats, fish-tails, and lots of small health problems only in the last year)
1) Does anyone know of a Canadian source for Copper Oxide boluses?
2) If not, do you use copper sulfate? If so, how do you administer it and how much do you give? (I've read some articles, but would appreciate checking it against real life.)
3) Does anyone know of a better alternative? Or maybe a suggested diagnosis other than copper deficiency?
BTW, my goats get a good quality loose goat mineral free-choice. We do have well water that is high in iron. And I tried a new hay-supplier last year and haven't sent his hay away to be analysed (not sure if I should as I went back to my old, reliable supplier this year).
