Well, Isn't This Just Ducky?

I'm liking this gal more & more & more. Her granddam and her dam both had rather small udders, with teeny, uncooperative teats. BUT. . . . I bred her dam to a buck whose dam had GOOD udder genetics, and took a chance on keeping her as a doeling. When she freshened, I was not uber-thrilled with her udder.

However, in the time since she kidded, the udder has improved - in size, production and teat size. It isn't a show-stopping udder, but MUCH improved over her dam & granddam's. This season she'll be bred to a buck with good udder genetics, and I'm looking forward to what she produces.

She was also one of the really skittish FFs in my herd - a pain to round up, snag, and put on the stand. THAT has improved, too!

I REALLY LIKE THIS GIRL! Meet Nehi Minis CPA Just Ducky (born on Easter, 2012):

She is a very pretty doe (well, she'd be prettier with ears...) LOL! I t-totally LOVE her name!

I think she has a lovely udder. Her teats look at least as big as my FF, Jet. In fact, they may be bigger. <sigh>

She's a really pretty little girl & I'm so glad she's turning into be a nice surprise for you.
I have a FF that I will start milking in the next week or two when I decide to pull her kids at night & she's always been skittish & not want a lot of human attention so I'm hoping that changes once she gets used to me milking her.

Katie, the milking routine works WONDERS on those skittish FFs! (Once you get them INTO the routine, that is!) They like the FEED on the milkstand, and come to enjoy the human interaction, too.

ALL my FFs this season were extremely skittish, and now they all know their names & the routine. They each come to the milk room gate when called, and hop right up onto the milkstand. Strangely, every single one exhibited CALM milk stand manners - right from the very first time being milked! Don't know how to explain *that*!

Loretta, would you like to come over and teach Jet proper milking manners? She is a t-total BRAT on the stand, to the point where Nick has to hold those nasty kicking back legs of hers.

I'll feed you.

Yeah, we tried that. She bucks like a mule.

Probably have to get the hobbles that tie-down to the stand... But it would be more fun to have you come over.
