Question - new to breeding

I am new to goats and will be breeding for the first time soon. I really, really want a mini-saanen and have found someone to buy a doe from in January. The problem is that I will not have access to a mini-saanen buck when she is old enough to breed.

If I breed a mini-saanen to a nigerian, will the kids still be considered mini-saanens? Both parents would be registered. Sorry if this is a silly question, just trying to figure out the logistics.

If you wanted to have mini-saanens, would you breed the MS doe to a Nigerian or full-sized Saanen buck? Which would be a better choice?

F1 minis are a Nigerian buck bred to a full-size doe. You wouldn't want to breed a full-size buck to a mini (especially a Saanen - they're huge!). Kids would be too large and kidding could kill the doe.

Never mind seen about the full sized buck.
Full sized buck is a bad bad bad idea!!!!

Yes you can breed her to a Nigerian buck. Your generation in kids just won't go up if using a nigerian instead of a mini saanen.
Your kids born are always 1 generation higher than the lowest generation parent.

Don't use a standard size Saanen on a mini.

Good Lord! I knew not to breed a mini-saanen doe to a full-sized buck. That's what happens when I am posting when I should be in bed! was too tired to think through what I was typing.

If you can get ahold of a couple saanens and cross them with a Nigerian, you can just start your own mini saanen.
This is what I'm doing. No one around here has mini manchas. I have three LM does and borrowed a ND buck, I now have 4 keeper minis. I'm borrowing another buck soon. I sold the two I didn't keep with the first call and for more than a friend sold her pure LM bucklings for!

This is something I would like to do if we ever move. We have a rare 1.5 acres in the city. Keeping a buck and full-sized doe would not really be possible with our location.

I have told DW many, many times that my plan is to start breeding mini-saanens when we move to the country in a few years.
