something we've never done before

..never done this before.. but I'm excited to be doing it LOL
I am BUYING BACK a doe that I've kicked myself over ever selling (she left as a baby)..I've watched her grow.. kid.. go on milk test.. kept my toe in the door.. IF they ever offered for sale.. let me have first chance at her.. got an email a couple days ago.. they are keeping her doeling from this year.. did I want her.. OH YEAH>> did I ever (had a check made out and in the mailbox within 5 minutes LOL.. got pick up plans settled..-getting her at 2pm on the 6th)..

SO, I'd like to publicly welcome Ages Ago Acres Leila back to her herd.. Her dam is my now retired doe Edith (big ol' blue gal.. milked like a cow).. I did keep 2 of Edith's other daughters.. (both spotted.. will breed them for the first time this fall).. Leila was the last blue kid Edith had.. I didn't have ANY blue this last year.. Leila's sire was my buck Journey (CREAM-OF-KANSAS' FROSTSJOURNEY) HUGE black buck.. very correct.. I wish I'd kept more daughters from him, before I moved on to Edge as my main sire.. I so rarely add to the herd.. it's almost like Christmas getting her back.. (her milk records show her milking 10 - 11 lbs, Edith was always my heaviest milker, at 13lbs)
==this herd is one of the only herds that I trust totally on Leila coming back completely healthy.. no CAE/CL or johnes.. she is also G6S Normal.. can't wait to breed her to Edge this fall==

Leila as a baby.. next two are recent (she had triplets this spring)
darker blue doe is her dam Edith (still looking good at 9 years)
black buck is Leila's sire Journey (his dam was 3rd place/3rd udder at Nationals.. she was solid black. my doe Gloomy looks much like her granddam)

She is a looker! (Don't tell Edith, but I think she's even prettier than her mama.)

She has that Classic Nubian look Stunning.

So happy for you!

LOL.. oh don't worry I won't say a word to Edith..she can already be pretty full of herself.. doesn't need anymore ego LOL... I've not seen Leila in *person* since she was a wee one.. but from what I hear, she's BIG like Edith & Many Names.. classic look, size/bone and heavy milkers.. it's a line I can't ever imagine not working with...(sadly they are getting harder and harder to find)

Love them big Nubians!

I have a Many Names daughter (Many Troubles). She's my baby, b/c she was my very first milk goat. She threw two pretty doelings for me this year. I think returning to the Ozarks has had a beneficial effect on the girl.

I was so happy that Edith blessed me with not just one but two spotted girls her last year as a mom... They are both maturing nicely.. can't wait to see their babies in the spring (with the addition of Leila, back into the herd.. I'll be breeding 3 Edith daughters... I also have her son, but he is sold and leaving as soon as I breed a few does to him this fall)...
