cheese from "other" milk question

My son and his wife have a new daugher. Wife is a FF with a very good lactation curve. My son asked if cheese could be made with human milk. She has been freezing the excess and looking into selling some, too.

Inquiring minds.

Has anyone made cheese from human milk?

I don't know why you couldn't. It separates really well, maybe they should consider making butter also.

Have you tasted human milk, tastes like melted vanilla ice cream. It has a very high sugar content. That would be some sweet cheese.

Only your family, Alice.

We want to know the results, BTW. Pics are good, too.

My Grandpa called my Mom a Jersey when she was lactating. Plenty of milk and obviously rich from the looks of the nursing baby! Sounds like your daughter in law might be a Jersey too. Thats a compliment by the way........ Congrats on the new granddaughter!

Haven't heard of anyone making cheese out of breast milk, but I have heard of people making soap out it and it turning out pretty well.

As far as butter goes - mine always separated pretty well in the refrigerator...so that should be pretty easy to try.

Good Luck.

Wish I'd known about butter and cheese making when I was feeding our children. Man, I had enough milk to feed an orphanage full of starving infants! Could have started a business...
