Supply Drop

My first freshener (1/2 togg, 1/2 Alpine) is about 6 weeks out from giving birth. Her baby is bottle fed and I'm milking her twice a day.
Her supply has been steadily increasing and peaked around 6lbs a day. I thought she'd stay steady around there, but the past few days has dropped to around 5.25 to 5.5 lbs. Is this a normal fluctuation or should I be worried?

My first thoughts are: is she sick, is she eating enough, am I feeding her wrong, is she unhappy?
Can you tell I'm a first time goat mom?

The only new change is that she broke into the barn where I keep the grains/feed and presumably gorged herself, then wouldn't eat grains for a few days. She seems to be back to normal-ish eating now. (Yup, barn's locked up tight now ;-)

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Was she dewormed post-kidding? What are you feeding? A drop of 0.5 lbs doesn't seem like a huge cause of concern, but it's good that you're monitoring.

Like was ask above, was she wormed when she kidded. Have you changed forage or feed in any way ? That being said they will have a peak and then drop a little. I have a ff that was milking almost nine lbs after she was fresh about a month and a half that is just giving a little over eight now, a little over four months fresh. So you will have a peak then they come off of that a little.

Yes she was wormed when she kidded. It's good to hear that they drop a little after peaking, and that a fluctuation of 1/2lb isn't something to panic about.

So how is 6lbs for a first freshener? Decent? Below average?

I want mine to milk at least six as ff. I would say six would be about average though. Depends on your lines and your breed.
