Buckling with Abcess Near Anus

I'm almost embarrassed for the little guy posting this lol. But my 2 month old buckling has a large abcess/lump on his butt, just to the right of his anus. It's in between the size of a marble and one of those big gum balls. It's also soft to the touch and obviously filled with a lot of fluid.

I'm not too concerned as it doesn't seem to be causing him any major discomfort but I would like to know if anyone knows what it is.

OUCH! If this is a valuable animal, I'd take him to the vet. Could just be a splinter that caused an infection, or it could be something worse.

You don't want it to burst and shed bacteria all over the place.

Yeah, even I would take that to a vet if you have a good one.

Otherwise, I'd hot-pack it and clean it up.

Poor little doober must be mighty uncomfortable...

Looks more like a blister or cyst than an abscess. Probably get a serous drainage, not pus if you lance it. I'd leave it alone unless it develops a white center or gets hard.

That's actually what I was thinking. Abcess was just the best way I thought to describe it at the time. I may try to lance it myself this afternoon. He also is a meat kid and the vet isn't a good option. However, I will take him if it gets to really hurting him. I'd rather break even than have him suffer on my watch.

If it is soft, it probably isn't bothering him and lancing it could cause an infection.

I'd shave the area, lance it, and rinse the heck out of it with a chlorhexidine solution. Or mild iodine.

NEVER lance an abscess till it comes to a head. You will spread infection thru the tissues if you do. This doesn't look like an abscess so pointless to put the goat thru the pain of lancing anyhow.

It burst on its own a few days ago. I hate that whatever came out is now laying around somewhere on my property but at least it fixed itself naturally. Even up until then it never seemed to cause him any discomfort which is also good.
