Need creative ideas and uses for barrels/drums

There is a place nearby that sells various size plastic and metal food grade barrels/drums. I was planning on going and buying a 30 gal plastic one to make a waterer for the front rack of my atv to use around my rather large lawn. I was also considering getting another 30 gal one with the thought of making a chemical sprayer out of it, either to be used on the rear rack of the atv or possibly mounted on a trailer.

What are some other creative uses I could get out of these things for around the house, yard, farm, and for the goats? BTW, they also have the 300 gal capacity rectangular storage tanks with a cage which has a lot of potential as well.

I made feeders out of some 50 gallon ones. Could use a sawzall, I used one of those oscillating multi-tools.

You could take one and fill with sand and charcoal and store to use if needed for a water filter.

I stick a lixit or nipple waterer in one and it's great for goats and pigs and such. Dog houses, mini goats houses. My turkeys like one as a mass nesting box. Rain barrels. They also make a neat little swing/bed for little kids when cut in half longways.

We made some of these for loose mineral and/or feed. Keeps the weather out so they are nice!

I have 55 gallon drums where the whole top is held on by a band clamp.

They are great for storing grain in.

I put a 50 gallon plastic bag liner in two of them and used them to store rice, beans, pasta and sugar for Y2K

I saw a picture of a garden where all the veggies were growing in containers made out of these barrels. I thought it looked so cool and easy to maintain. I wish I could find some around here!!!

I got a couple 7 was going to make hay feeders out of them but haven't had time.\
They are different than the one's Jenniferlynn has in her post. These actually use a piece of cattle panel over the front. Sorry I can't find the link or old thread that had the picture in it.

We also use the barrels in the barn & garage for shovel's, rakes, hoe, brooms, etc. put them in handle first.

Thanks for all of the ideas!

I'm def going to try out that mineral feeder! I was looking at the ones made for goats sold by Tarter that have the wind vane and rotate with the wind to keep the mineral dry but they are pretty expensive. This looks just as effective if I can find a way to construct a stand. I may just end up suspending it between two trees though.

I think the metal ones with the band clamp will also make a good storage container for grain. I currently use an old deep freeze that will hold about five 50lb bags but using these would give me even more capacity.

Of course I will make some kid huts as well.

By all means, keep up the suggestions!
