My yearling doe is missing!

I went out to milk tonight and my yearling doe didn't come in. She always comes in to be milked.

They have free range of 90 acres but probably only cover 20-30 acres. The grass is so high I can't see the goats when they are standing up. Of coarse it got dark before I finished milking the cow. I went out walking with a flash light and can't see or hear any signs of her.

She is healthy and in 7th month of lactation.

Would you all say a prayer for the safe return of my Tulip. She is such a sweet goat. I am hoping that when I go out in the morning she will be at the barn.

Tulip you come home right now.
That is the worse feeling- being unable to find one of your animals. I hope it all turns out ok.

It really is an awful feeling! If my knees weren't so painful, I would be out walking the woods and fields more tonight.

CJ, I pray that your little sweetie will be waiting for you bright and early. Our herd, for some reason, decided to change the routine up about 3 days ago. I have no clue why, but itis making for interesting chore time. Last night before dinner, well after the herd was in the barnyard, I heard one off in the corner of our 40 acre pasture screaming bloody murder. I thought she was surely in a major snag. Head stuck? Coyote attack? So DD and I raced to rescue her. Turns out she just got left behind by the others and wanted to walk home with us.

oh no...I know you must be beside yourself with worry....I have had this happen twice over the years...found Shirley alive, but very ready to be found...had a foot caught up in the fork of a tree..she was up on her back legs awaiting rescue....other time was one of the jerseys we had...found her..also alive and awaiting rescue...under a fallen tree..looked like she was pulling on the vines covering a med sized tree..pulled oo hard..tree snappd and squished to the ground..luckily she ended up in a low spot...so the weight of the tree wasn't all on her...was not a fun time gettong her out...hope ypu find your girl safe and well.

Tulip WILL be in that barn. Seriously, my chest became tight reading this. I hate that feeling and I hope all is well.

This has happened to me, too. Scares a person to pieces.

Hoping for her safe return.

Wonderful news! I found her. I walked within 30 ft of her last night after dark. The silly thing didn't answer me when I called for her but this afternoon she did.

She was under a tree that had fallen a couple of years ago but it was still alive. There were wild grape vines every where. She had stepped between two small vines and somehow ended up with the vine twisted very tightly around her back left leg and around the entire udder. It was very tight. Her leg and udder have swollen areas and abrasions. She didn't mind being milked but her udder is looking swollen and the abrasions are fairly deep on it.

I am so greatful I found her!

Yeah! Happy news! I'm so glad you found her! She most likely thought she was in trouble so didn't answer. Silly girl so happy she is safe. Pepper mint is a great pain reliever and inflammation reducer. Add a few drops of it to a hand cream or udder Cream to help with pain and swelling.

so happy she was alive and awaiting rescue.. (sounds like she was pretty stuck).. once Bob Barker (one of LDGs) didn't come back home with the herd one evening.. went looking for him.. found him stuck wayyyy back in a big brush pile (had been cutting down trees along a fence line.. vines had grown up all thru and around the piles) for some reason Bob had gotten down on his belly and crawled all the way back into it.. could turn around, couldn't back out.. vines holding him by his belly and legs.. my daughter went in after him.. took a while but she got him loose.. (these Ozarks woods can be full of hidden dangers, as Tulip found out~!).. glad it all turned out well...
