this may be a help.

I am always hearing about newborn kid that need vitamin E.

Back when I raise show animals (not goats) I always kept a bottle of wheat germ oil around, and would mix a little in the feed if the animal seemed to loose a little sheen on its coat. I believe that vitamin E capsules contain wheat-germ oil, so if you need some in a hurry, don't have any capsules hand, but have wheat germ oil, I suspect you could just give them a teaspoon or two.

It is a little bitter, that is why I always mixed it with the feed.

While I know it contains a lot of Vitamin E, it may not be comparable to the gel caps. I am trying to convert "ICU" to "mcg" it may take more than is reasonable for a good dose. Any pharmacists out there?

Well Vitamin E Content- 300-400 IU/100g so it would take about 1/3 to 1/2 cup... to equal a 400 ICU capsule. Maybe not such a good idea. but it still could be used as a top dressing for feed for the doe.

I fed 1/4 cup wheat germ daily as top dressing to a couple of extremely thin rescues(standard size 4 month olds) last year. They went through a lot of groceries, including free browse, beet pulp, BOSS and alfalfa. They needed all the vitamins and nutrients they could get. They especially needed E to repair damaged intestinal cells from severe coccidiosis. Can't say how effective the wheat germ was in particular but it certainly didn't hurt. And they gobbled it up.
