New babies what to do

I'm expecting two does to kid in a few weeks. I need to know what to provide after the birth and at what intervals. Can anyone recommend a place to find this info or if you care to list it out here. I just need to know like what shots when, when to disbud etc. thanks

Give the does' their CD & T booster 3-4 weeks before kidding & that carries over to the babies for their first weeks after birth.

I do my shots on the babies usually 1st CD & T 6 or 7 weeks then their booster 21 days later.

I start all kids on coccidosis prevention at 21 days old & do that every 3 weeks until weaning. Here's the link with cocci med's & doses. I use Di-Methox 40% inj. given orally.

Disbudding needs to be done as soon as the horn buds start coming through to avoid getting scurs. Different breeds that means different ages. I've heard some say they do them at 4 days & some that can wait till 10 days but different breeds of goats.

Alice in TX/MO has a kidding page on her blog too so she'll probably post that for you also. Very helpful.

Thanks for the replies but it seems I got back to it a little late. I Came home today and found 2 little guys hanging out with their mom. They both seem to be feeding a little off of her and I do not plan to bottle feed them. I plan to trim back the cord this evening and soak in iodine as I read on the Fiasco Farm website. Is their some shots or vaccines that are necessary right away?

You probably don't need to trim the cords unless they are really long. Just dip. No shots right away. It's very important that they are getting the colostrum and eating off mama. They don't hang on too long to drink but they do it very often. Feel their bellies and make sure they feel full.
Congratulations! But you know it ain't real until you post pictures!
