Poor Timber got her first mange bath of the year

It is finally warm enough that I feel ok with giving Tim her bath followed by the lime sulfur dip. Of course, she was as pleased as most goats would be so that we are both stained yellow and stink like rotten eggs. But I can't complain too much- she is pretty tolerant.

Her mange is much improved but it got too cold to continue it last year. I'm going to try just the dip for a couple of times to see if just that will work because triple doses of Ivermec Plus weekly seems really toxic.

Ah I wish it was over but she has to have one each week for a month.

Yikes! I have never given a goat a bath and can't imagine doing it! But there is a first for everything I'm sure it's in my future somewhere!

I put hot water into one pail and use the hose to make it cooler. Once I have her soaped all over then I use the sun-warmed hose water to rinse her off and use the last of the warm bucket water to give one last rinse.
But then comes the part she loves-towelling dry. She will practically purr over the rubbing.
Unfortunately, I can't end on that good note because next come the garden sprayer full of lime sulfur, which is not rinsed off. That is when we both become yellow and stinky.

Well, you can always spray your fruit trees while your at it.
A lime-sulfur mix in horticulture is called a "Bordeux-mix" except some times they use copper sulfate instead of straight sulfur.... orchardists mostly use it for fungus.

It makes me think of those Australian movies where they drive their sheep though a tank of the stuff.

Not a goat raiser yet, but from what I can find, if it is the "scabies" type of mange, one needs to use the lime sulfur and ivomec both.
