2 New Goats for the Homestead

Do not tell me they are cute! They are meat goats and have a dinner invitation later this year! LOL

I traded a young American Guinea Hog gilt for these 2 meat goats. This was a deal with the people I got my Nubians from originally.
The black one is full blooded Myotonic (fainting goat), The black and white is a mix he is working on, to bred a larger goat with myotonic quality.

Sorry, but they're cute. Tasty and cute can be synonymous.

My mini kids I recently had were adorable. But I hated them with a passion. Sold them at the meat auction because I wanted rid of them and had no time to put them in our freezer. Couldn't be happier.

cute and tasty can very much so be synonymous. Happens all the time here - I raise rabbits, too. Cute tastes great. And, healthy for you.

Well all of you CGLs have made my day better with your comments, again.

I don't know about that Minelson lady though, that just was not right!

These 2 guys were wild as the west Texas wind when I picked them up. The black one being full myotonic, is easy to catch. You just rush him and he will freeze up and fall over. I do not do that for fun. It just does not seem right. He will now slowly come up and take cookie pieces from my hand.
The black and white one is still stand offish. He is easy to catch because he has the bad habit of climbing into the hay barrel.

I guess I would be scared of me too, at first. They were in 2 different groups. Just beyond weaning age. I show up, put a band on their cojones, and haul them off to a new land. LOL

They are now running with the does during the day and are good playmates for Shakespeare.
But, they have horns! The have already gotten their head hung in fence. And the black and white one got a bucket hung on his head the other day.
LOL

They are doing well.

How much meat does one get off pygmies? I've always been curious about that! They are pretty cute. But, I am well versed in an animals ability to be cute and tasty or cute and down right EVIL! Are you going to process yourself like you do the hogs?
