Meat auction - 3 pygmy kids

I've long had these 3 stupid, wild untame pygmy kids. They were the last of the pygmy kids ever to be born here - if a pygmy was kidding, guaranteed a rough troublesome birth. Cute as heck, but if I had tofuss with one more stuck stinkin pygmy kid... so I sold the buck and these kids were born last summer as my last-ever mini/pygmy kids. 2 wethers and a doeling.

We kept them till the spring because as pygmies, they weren't very big for slaughter. An Italian man we know wanted them for Easter. That came and went. We called again a weekend ago (at Dad's insistence - I wanted them gone WEEKS AND MONTHS ago) and he couldn't come get them for another couple weeks. Nope, I want them GONE. They're taking up space and hay and grain... they even fit through my creep feeder area door, so I stopped putting out creep feed for my valueable boer kids because those stupid minis kept eating it all. Can you tell I didn't like them?

Anywho, they shipped on Monday to the local auction and must've been in the ideal weight group of 40-60lbs... because they sold for 1.95/lb. We got a check for 300 somethin' dollars, minus commision. Thats a LOT more than I thought I"d get for them, very pleased. AND, they're out of my hair!

I'm sure this is a great ending to your bothersome naughty kids (well, for you. LOL) but being someone who doesn't own goats but just swoons over everyone's photos and stories I can tell I'd have a HARD time shipping cute little goats off to the auction I'm glad you got a good price for them!

Cute- when they're teeny. Not so cute when they're scarfing down grain I put out for my does who are lactating and need it, or stealing it out of the creep feeder Not so cute when they scream and scream at you for grain, but are so terrified of people you can't even pet 'em. Not so cute when they're darned impossible to catch for routine work, won't stay in any pen that 'mommy' isn't in (they were STILL nursing her - dunno how they got out of the buck pen and into the doe pen again). LOL.

Cute, kinda. Me, I was going to butcher them this weekend myself if they weren't gone.
mammabooh and hurryiml8 like this.
