Hoof Knife vs Trimmers

I was curious which everyone prefers and why they like one over the other. I am thinking of getting a hoof knife because I just really do not like my trimmers that I got in my hoof kit from Hoeggers. Dunno if its just how they feel in my hand or what but they are not to my liking. So I figured I would ask your preferences.

I keep trimmers and a basic utility knife on hand. Trim long hoof wall with trimmers, the use utility knife to even out and flatten the sole.

You could also use a rasp, though with my carpal tunnel that is excruciating for me.

I generally use some sort of knife if the hoof has been trimmed recently or is very wet.

If the hoof is extremely dry or has a lot of horn overgrowth I use the trimmers and cut the hard part off and then use the knife.

I had a buck yesterday had a big peice of horn I had to use horse hoof nippers on to get off.
