After the kvetch: Opinions on this doeling please.

I know, I know, I was just whining about a bad kidding season and being frustrated and overworked and tempted to get out of goats. But the addiction is obviously still there, because I couldn't help but check this doeling out. Purebred Nubian, only one hour drive from me, testing through WADDL came back clean. Family is only selling because they're getting out of goats to be traveling missionaries. And I bought Madeleine from them, so I already know them.

Before they clipped her:

Not an expert on show material...but she looks good and sounds good. Like her teats and placement...nice and wide, too!! Hard to tell about top line...but a good friend who is a show person extraordinaire says that you want them a little steep in the rear for easy delivery!! Is milk important to you? Herd name? Pretty ears...no spots (horrors).
Friendly? She might just be what an overworked, goat-junkie needs to calm the nerves and lift the spirit. lol

Steep udder not necessarily desirable, slight slope is good.

Milk and kids that will sell are important to me. Showing, not so much. As for spots, she has a partial white belt on her right side, these pix don't show it. She's a bottle baby, very friendly and sweet. I wish they hadn't clipped her but oh well.

I'm no expert but to me she looks very good. Maybe a new goat will be good for you & your new beginning.

just let me know if you dont get her, shes got little flaws but over all better than some of mine in some ways some shes not.
Her shoulders a little loose, Id breed for a flatter rear but shes fine and about the only other thing as pictured is Id like to see a little more length on her but over all she can come eat crackers in my barn anytime

I know the feeling, the best cure for a little (or a lot of) discouragement is another goat! Maybe thats why they are addictive- or at least so darn easy to collect!
She looks like a darling!

In the last pic, is that bulge on the left side a full rumen?

I know these are not the best pictures, I can try to get some better ones.

It is her rumen, yes. Not sure if it was full or not.

This is exactly the kind of critique I wanted, thank you. And I agree, she could use more length. One thing the pictures don't show, and my biggest concern, is that she's small. She just turned a year old and she's only about 70lbs. I suspect she didn't get cocci prevention as a baby. I've added her in to my '13 kids cocci prevention schedule, I figure it can't hurt. The seller said several times, "Keep feeding her and she'll keep growing." I have to wonder if they couldn't feed her enough. I do know they sold *all* their other does to get the money to buy this one doeling. But she's got free choice hay and gets to get out to browse here, so I'm hoping she catches up in size.

And yes, I did get her. But I can start taking deposits on future kids out of her if you want She'll be bred this fall to Athena's surviving buckling:

My two biggest brown does where small at a year old if I am right on her lines they are a bit slower to mature in my opinion. BUT I would fecal her just to see whats going on, its not easy using a treatment on big goats so I prefer to fecal first

Okay I can't hold it in any longer My new doeling's full name is:

Pruittville's E/C Trail Mix

Trix, for short.

This is her dam:

CH Pruittville's Caramel Corn...

And this is her sire:

*B CH Pruittville's Explorer

To have the chance to add a Pruittville doe to my little herd, so close to home, and within my budget... well I just couldn't resist. DH looked at the pictures of her dam and asked, "How much to buy THAT doe?" I just told him he really didn't want to know even if she ever came up for sale.
