Annie Goat and Bottle Jaw?

Noticed this at milking yesterday evening.
She was wormed with Cydectin March 19. The purple stuff at 1cc per 25 pounds and I estimated her weight at 150 lbs. Cydectin is supposed to take care of Barberpole and also liver flukes, right?
Her inner eyelids do not look real pail. I was told I could use this wormer every 30 days if needed.

I did have a fecal done on Cecelia when she was at the vet for Mastitis. Mainly to make sure the Cydectin was working, but Annie has not had a fecal done since deworming.

I have Red Cell and started giving it to her yesterday. I will also be giving he injections of B 12 starting this morning.

It is my understanding this is proper treatment, since she does not appear to be severely anemic.
I can give B 12 everyday for 2 weeks without a problem, but how long should I give the red cell since they caution on the bottle about over doing the selenium?
You can see in the picture, she like the red cell! LOL

I forgot the amounts.

6cc Red Cell orally
6cc B 12 Sub Q injection
Amounts based on estimating an adult Nubian Doe at 150 lbs?

Once a day for 2 weeks on the B 12, but not sure how long on the Red Cell.
Everyday for the first week then once weekly?

Whoever told you deworm every thirty days is mistaken.

The procedure used most often is deworm, wait ten days for the remaining eggs to hatch, deworm again. You could fecal test a couple of weeks after that to check the effectiveness of your med.

That is what the vet said about the Cydectin. It is even on the label she put on the bottle.

Question everything! Glad I mentioned that!
So I should probably get more cydectin, deworm everyone again and then deworm again after 10 days? HC or Barberpole are the main problems here and Cydectin seems to work well for controlling them.

If you only have a few goats & don't want to buy a big bottle of Cydectin the Quest horse paste is the same medication only stronger. Won't cost you as much. It's given 1 cc per 100 pounds.

I do like Alice also when I worm. Once then again 10 to 14 days later to get any newly hatched.

Okay, I have failed to keep my doe from getting bottle jaw, by improper deworming techniques.

Does nobody have input on the proper cure or input on my questions above?
Thanks,

I've not had to give Red Cell before so I don't know how long is Too Long to give it to your doe.
Hopefully someone that's used it will jump in & give that info but otherwise I think I would cut her back to every other day for a week & see how she does that way.

When you get rid of the worms, her body will absorb the swelling. Bottle jaw is just edema (fluid retention.)

The purple Cydectin is given a 1cc per 20 pounds in goats and again in 10 days. After all this rain and nice sunny days afterward we have had here in Tennessee I am keeping a close eye on the goats for signs of worms.

Thanks guys for the input.

Inner eyelid color is not extremely pale. But I guess a little red cell to boost iron could not hurt. The swelling is less today.

Will be getting more cydectin or other wormer today.

Bottle from vet is labeled 1 cc for 25 lbs.

Vets.... yeah..... 'nuff said.

It is AT LEAST 1 cc per 20. Some folks in southern Missouri are having to go higher.

I talked to the vet yesterday and confirmed that I was remembering what she had told me. (Not debating right or wrong, just checking my memory!)

I was told that with cydectin you should not have to deworm again after 10 days, because if kills the eggs also.
(okay you can now laugh)

I still had some, so I used it yesterday, but may just start using Ivermectin or Quest or something different. Just because I am so confused.

2 years ago 4 ounces cost $10, yesterday I was quoted $20 for the same amount. Money is always an issue around here, so if something cheaper will do the job why not change. As long as it does do the job!

I'm cleaning out the garage, so don't have a huge amount of time to look, but I can't find ANY verification of it killing the eggs. Will look more later.
