Tiny teats!

Is there anything I can do to get Vinnie's teats to grow? They are seriously about the size of pencil erasers.

Time will help a little, but not much. If you let kids nurse they seem to stretch them out faster. Or maybe it just seems that way .

Some will grow naturally, but some, like Mocha, just are small. I puuuuuuuuuuuulllllllllllllllllll on them each time I milk and I think they might be getting a little better.

Good heavens. I milked her a little bit this morning and literally had a hard time grabbing much with my thumb and one finger.

It's all about the teats. If you have goats for milk, this goat is not one you want to keep long term.

She was supposed to go to some friends as a milker. I texted them last night and told them they might seriously want to look around for something else. With all of the troubles she's had with her legs and feet and now this, I'm afraid she's not a very good candidate for their first milk goat.

How do random tiny teats just pop up in lines with good udders/teats? Very frustrating! I sure hope her sister is better, since I kept her for myself and will be breeding her next fall.

Genetics is a weird, weird thing. Yes. Throwbacks happen.

Yes, those tiny teats are a pain to hand milk. Don't get to much bigger with time. Maybe breed her to a Boer and get nice fat babies out of her.

You could try using a Henry Milker or some other milk machine and hope they grow from the suction but I wouldn't hold my breath. Sorry.

Mocha has a half sister with BIG nice teats. Same mom, diff sire. She is a 2nd freshener, 3 yrs old. I left the doeling on her the first time because the kid was born a couple months after all the other kids that yr and was a single and because I tried to milk and couldn't get a grip on those teats. So they are better, just not nearly better enough.

Try an udderly easy if you can find one to borrow. See if it helps before investing.

If she has soft, thin skin on the udder and teats they will stretch out faster and bigger than if she has thick, coarse skin.

Actually, the pressure from a full udder/teats is probably going to stretch them more than ones that are getting continuously emptied by kids, I would think.

OUCH! I hope you're not serious! If so, I am going to find where you live and come puuuuullll on your teats!

I have found that the pressure of a full udder stretches teats much better than letting kids stay on keep everything milked all the time.

My FF's always have small teats but generally they get bigger as I milk them. Also with more kiddings under their belt they "grow" as well. I try not to judge a FF on her teats until I have been milking her for a little while.

Dawn's are both about the size of my little finger, around and length. I can milk them with three fingers. Will they get bigger?
I noticed the baby drinks out of ONE side only, and her other side was huge. She didnt like me milking that out at first but after the pressure relieved, she seemed happy lol

Her orifices seem pretty small

Remind me when your girl kidded Shygal? I am betting they will get bigger, what was her dam's teats like? My kids tend to favor one side as well and when I am milking FF'ers they tend to be jumpy about me milking them but they settle down. My two FF 2yr olds like me to rest my head against their flank while I milk. Helps them know I am not just a phantom milking them .

She kidded on the 4th of April. Im not sure what her dam's teats were like, I never saw her dam.
The side that the kid isnt nursing on, seems to be getting bigger than the side the kid is nursing on, that seems strange

Do you milk both sides or just the fuller side? If not both sides try milking both sides and see what her teats do. My girls teats after 2 weeks are starting to get a bit bigger. But sometimes it takes until their second freshening to really notice a difference. I had a doe who had thimble size teats and by her second/third freshening she had nice handle bar sized teats. There is hope!
