Hallelujah, Vinnie kidded!

Vinnie lost her ligs yesterday, but didn't have much else in the way of labor signs. I went out at 9:30 last night...nothing, 12:30...nothing, 3:30...2 little wet black bucklings. I am so glad that she had them and they aren't dead and they aren't deformed! They have been nursing, but I also gave them some of Snicket's colostrum in bottles.

So, the total is 3 bucklings and two doelings. That means that there is going to be a very unhappy little girl when I break the news...some friends were planning to get two doelings for their 10-year-old daughter to raise. Phooey!

I was planning to raise the bucklings for the freezer, but Hubby thinks it might be nice to sell them instead so we can use the money for our fencing/buck barn project we'll be starting on in a while.

Pictures will follow as soon as son gets his schoolwork done and I can get down to the barn. One little guy is black with a white splash on his head, and one is black with brown peppered through.

They were the same last night, but I haven't had her out of her pen yet to see how she's walking. Those babies being out of there just has to help, right?

Oh, and pictures will be a while. I had batteries charged, and some little boy swiped them before I used them. When I retreived them, they wouldn't even power up the camera. We're off to town right now, so the batteries should be charged when we get home.

Congtrats on the healthy babies! I can hardly wait to see the pictures, the balck 1 with the brown splashed throughout sounds flashy but I'm sure they are both adorable.

Here's a picture of the boys napping. You can't really see the brown in the picture...it's not really splashed, it's more like lightly mottled...almost like a tortoise shell cat! I'll get better pictures when they are a bit more active.
