Will she ever have these kids?

Doe was due the 22nd. Allowing for the +/- 5 days put her at the 27th. I have been so vigilant in my hovering over her waiting for something to happen, but she is just insistant on keeping them. This is the first kidding for both of us, and I am soooo nervous about it, after reading everything that can go wrong-I'm scared out of my mind!

Of course it is her that is having to go through it, so she may be scared out of her mind too!!

I just don't know how long she can safely hold on to them without the babies getting too big.

Whew, guess it will be another long night of waiting.

She is waiting for you to turn your back and go do anything at all you have been putting off while waiting for the kids.

Most of the time they have the kids with no trouble at all. Even FF have the instincts.

She's not scared. She's doing what comes naturally. Don't project your worries, as she'll know you are upset. Breathe deeply, calmly, and relax.

She is driving you nuts and that is what goats do. Everything will be fine. All you can do is be ready with your kidding kit and wait. Do you have any pictures of her?

I'll try to get some updated pics today, I don't have any of her since she got pregnant. I'll work on it tonight. I agree, she's driving me crazy because I'm so unsure! She acts like everything is cool, no worries. I suppose I will take my cues from her and wait for her to freak out, maybe take it out on the dogs in the meantime and make today "Bath Day".They'll be thrilled. LOL.

She looks content & comfortable. Her udder doesn't look quite tight enough to kid but some kid & bag up during or after. Just another way of them driving us crazy.
As long as she's acting OK try not to worry too much & just keep an eye on her.

Check her ligaments at the base of her tail up about 2". If you can still feel the rope like ligaments she isn't ready. If the ligaments are gone she is close. Good luck, I'm sure everything will be fine.

I will just have to trust that she'll know when its "time", so until then, I will go to work as usual. Anyone have any opinions as to how long is too long to wait? She's only at day 159, any ideas as to when I should get involved? (As I am going to quit hovering over her for now, although she sort of seemed to enjoy it!) Oh, her name is Dot by the way, never mentioned that.

Anyhow, I have another one due on the 2nd, maybe they'll do it together. The other doe (Anita) has been trying to stay near Dot, and even wanting to stay in Dot's kidding stall. I can just imagine coming home from work and having 4 or 5 extra kids on the prowl! Not a bad afternoon I suppose...(grin)

Are you sure she's at 159 days? I would induce today if that's the case.

I'm questioning your due date...how did you come up with this date?

She was bred on October 22, so I was just counting from that time. Our girls and boys don't live together, so that was the last "visit" she made because she never acted like she came in to heat again.

Her ligaments are mushy, I compared her to my nonbred does today.

If you are positive it was Oct and not Nov I would call a vet.

Call the vet for induction meds. She should NOT go past 155 days. I induce if we get to 150 days and nothing is happening.

Was she in contact with the buck at all after that date in October? I would guess if she was in a pen with him, she either short-cycled and will kid very shortly, or she will kid about 3 weeks from the first due date, on her next regular cycle.

She said that was the doe's last visit with the buck and the does and bucks are penned separately. I sure hope everything is ok. I would be feeling for baby movement and inducing labor.

I sure hope she updates us on how things are going.

Penned separately but are they adjacent? Many a doe has been bred through a fence... If I was feeling the kids move (and positive it was the kids and not gut rumbles) and the pens are side by side, I wouldn't induce. If they aren't side by side and I felt no movement, I would take her to my vet. That is a situation I would prefer not to be trying to handle as a first timer and alone. JMO

She is a beautiful doe.
We need an update. That sure is a lot of udder for a FF That is still waiting to kid.
I hope you been to a vet by now or had other experienced people help.
