Heidi having kids!!
I traded Bam Bam for Heidi back in November, they said they didn't have a buck...Heidi so far TODAY has dropped 2 bucklings, not sure yet if she is done no placenta ..what the heck??? who is the daddy they both look like Heidi! No way she have only 4 month gestation??
Going back out the little ones seem pretty weak and floppy.

Hmmmm...? Bucks are sneaky, but when they do not exist it is REALLY hard to figure out how they did it...congrats on the babies (I think).

boy 2 is an interesting 2 tone red they have both nursed, Heidi has a LARGE udder at 7 it isnt well attached anymore but thinking she is going to be a good producer. I wonder if either of the boys will be natural polled like her. Sorry the pic isnt real good.

I am double checking but they didn't have any bucks or buckling so they said which is why they wanted to trade.
So what do I need to watch for if these guys only made 4 months in the oven?

Trust me, those guys are not a month early. 10 days early is GENERALLY a death sentance. 1 month early and they would not look anywhere near like that.
Call them back again if you can, and discuss what might've happened... LOL. Did they have ZERO bucks/bucklings, or just not one that they wanted to use for breeding due to inbreeding or just not a buck of Heidi's breed?

Sounds like they had no only flying sperm at their place but magical flying sperm. Maybe a loose goat from another place around theirs hopped the fence, did the deed and then left?

Babies only one week early will often have there eyes still stuck shut, teeth will not be through the gums, & their hooves will be super soft. Those babies look fullterm to me if they are early it is only by a few days. Gotta love mystery births!!

well teeth arent all the way through.
Heidi isnt producing I managed to milk some very watery colostrum from her about 1 oz split that between the twins and warmed up some of Pawnee's milk and they took about 2 oz each, their suck reflex is good but they still can't stand very well and Heidi keeps backing away from them when they try to get to her now she wasn't doing that earlier.
Since I gave them some milk they seem more energitic, the one scared me when I went out to check I couldn't see him breathing and his eye was rolled up in his head!! Was only sleeping but geesh freak me out!!

We gave ours the kid and lamb drench, man that really seems to get them going. Is pawnees milk, milk or colustrum? They need that colustrum if at all possible. excited for your babies!

Pawnee's is milk which is why I tried to get as much from Heidi as I could. Hoping soon her milk drops in and I won't need to supplement.
Waiting for a vehicle to get back here so I can make a TSC run...this stuff never happens when I am ready for it.

Heidi was in such poor shape when she came here that I was going to wait to breed her. They just told me there WAS a yearling buck at their place for a month, the great grandson of his spotted buck from good milk lines, So mystery solved i guess

I know there are a lot of things that say for kids & lambs but really if you don't NEED to give extra supplements, baby goats should not get anything but momma' colostrum & milk. Their stomachs aren't functioning like an adult goat at that time.
Of course besides Bo-Se &/or liquid from Vit. E capsules.

well BAD news is Heidi has a hardness on one side I am not able to get much colostrum from, pretty sure its mastitis have a feeling she ended her last milking season with it untreated. Calling the vet tomorrow
GOOD news is I did milk colostrum from Cookie last milking season so I do have some on hand, but not allot.

I dont always give the drench to the babies, but in my case I did and glad I did, It probably never goes to their stomachs much because it just stays in their mouth. I only give it to ones that are seeming lifeless and just arent getting up and around or momma is not doing well and we cant get them to nurse.
