Doe kidded on day 138 :( Premies

I'm 100% on her breeding date because we hand breed. I should've trusted my gut yesterday because she bagged up and started looking lose in her hind end. I thought no way she'll kid soon. Luckily DH was home and he stayed up late and went outside to start a fire. He heard little cries and went to investigate. Woke me up and by the time I got out there she had a second one on the ground. Both just left out and cold. She was oblivious. I'm tubing them every couple of hours and they're cuddled up in a playpen full of hay next to a heater. It will take a miracle for them survive. No real muscle tone, weak suck reflex, both breeding hard trying to get air. I feel bad saying this but it makes it easier because they're bucklings They're both beautiful blue roans, my favorite. So far this year we're at 6 bucklings to 1 doeling with one more to kid in May. Really praying for atleast one more doeling.

Beautiful little boys & I hope they pull through for you, It can happen. Did you give them some Bo-Se or liquid from a couple Vitamin E capsules?
At this point though I think keeping them nice & warm & getting colostrum in them is most important but I've never had preemies either.

Yes, they've had all the basics. Selenium/Vit E, etc. Both have had 4-5oz of colostrum so far, split into two tubed feedings. I hate seeing them suffer.

We had a premie pull through a few weeks ago. It does happen. I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of you, and am sending positive, healing thoughts your way.

Ringers is really your friend when it comes to premies & weak kids... it's amazing what just 20 - 30 cc's under the skin at the shoulders (every 4 hours or so... as the hump disappears, it's a sign to do it again)...it not only keeps them hydrated, keep their kidneys working well.. keeps their blood pressure up and pumping... fluids, both ringers & milk...warmth and lots of SLEEP are what they need.. I like to put baby coats on them, so they aren't burning any extra calories trying to maintain their body temps.

good luck

Thanks, I'll put coats in them. And work on getting some ringers. Really amazed but they're doing really well.
