ADGA Herd Names?

I went online to the ADGA website and did a pedigree search for my farm name, "Blue Run," and was so excited that it was not taken. So, I applied for the herdname Blue Run. Well, I just got a reply from ADGA that someone else has "Blu Run" (which is not the same) so I can't have Blue Run or anything that has it in the beginning. I went online and did a pedigree search for "Blu Run" and the only (two) goats registered with that combo were both born in 2001 and have "The" before Blu Run, which I thought indicated that there was not a registered herdname? What gives? It is not even the same name and there is no evidence of it being registered. Can I ask that it be reconsidered? I use Blue Run Farm for everything, even our jousting, so using a different name just doesn't feel right I know it is not a "big deal" in the grand scheme of things, but I am just so bummed because I checked first and was confident it was available.

Does anyone know if there is a procedure in place to ask for a review?

I just looked it up in the 2012 ADGA catalog, and there is, in fact, a Blu-Run registered in Florida. I know that doesn't help, but at least you can know that it is an actual herd name.

Thanks Mammabooh. I stand by that it is not the same, but I suppose I better put on my big girl panties and come up with a new idea.

What do you think of Three Kings? For my three sons and sort of jousting related, since that is our other farm activity. Or something with Snickers, our herd queen, but there seem to be a lot of Snickers herdnames already. Maybe something with Knight or Jouster. Ugh, I suck at this. You do not want to know how long it took us to name this place a decade ago. DH ended up coming up with Blue Run for the dogs (Blue Heeler and Greyhound).

If you do jousting, is there a way to Chivalry in your herd name? Or some kind of term used in jousting you could turn into a name? What breeds of goat do you raise and for what purpose? Maybe there's a pun in there when coupled with jousting or a medieval theme?

Okay, I've been brainstorming What do you all think of these?

Three Kings (our 3 sons all have the names of kings)
Knight's Edge (kinda like the sound of this, is it cheesy?)
Mid Knight Run
Jouster's Rest
Warhorse Way
Shattered Lance
Woodlance

Starting to get silly in my head, think I'll stop here. Anyone have any new ideas or thoughts on what I have so far? This is something I have to live with as long as I continue to have the goats, so I really want to pick carefully.

Why don't you write or email your ADGA directors for your region and ask them this question. They might be able to intervene with ADGA and you could get the name you want.

How about Blue One (since it sort of sounds the same)? Hee hee...sounds sort of lame now that I typed it out...

I really like Three Kings and Knight's Edge. Both look very cool and well... herd names are to a degree about coolness aren't they?

You could try BlueRun Farm or BlueRun Herd. Blu Run sounds just like Blue Run, hence why they won't approve it. It's written in their regs that names can't sound identical. Or even BR Farm?

Otherwise Shattered Lance is kinda cool. Remember the longer your herd name, the shorter the animal's given name can be.

If you can't have Blue Run then I like Three Kings since it has a correlation with your sons

They did the same to me, as there was a "Knee High" out there somewhere. But I firmly & politely insisted, as "Nehi Minis" (my herd name) was already a registered herd name with three other registries. They then graciously registered my herd name.
