Relief Milking

One of our nubians is due any day now.
Her udder is engorged/super full,( she gets way fuller than any of the other six doe's we have do)

I keep telling myself to not milk her until the kids get their colostrum.

But my compassion side tells me to relieve her.

What is the proper thing to do?

Wait until you are sure she is in labor then go ahead and milk her.

I usually milk off a little just about a pint and freeze it for emergencies. It's enough to relieve the pressure but still leaves plenty for the kids.

Yeah they must be those ever elusive "invisible doelings" !!

For the original question..I too milk off just a bit to relieve pressure...hate seeing them super engorged. I worry about blown teats too!
