? About colostrum & 2nd set of mini-manchas

Viper gave me a buck and doe! The doe is the one with the smaller star and she is actually a very dark brown. Both have patches of stray white hairs on their sides.

My question is how many days should I make sure the babies get colostrum? Viper slammed one baby to the ground and I took them to the doe who delived on Thursday, Kanai. She accepted and allowed them to nurse. I gave the new babies two small bottles of Kanai's colostrum I froze on Thursday and Friday. I have one more 12 oz bottle.

Could you just milk the dam of the kids and feed them what she gives? This would be what they eat normally and will switch over to milk in a few days.

The reason I ask is that since Kanai has accepted them, I'd like her to foster so I don't have to bottle feed, and I'll milk Viper. I was just wondering how long they produce the colostrum for so I know when I can keep them with Kanai all the time.

Thanks

Very cute! I would try to get a little more of their mother's colostrum into them today, then you can let the other doe have them.

Ditto what Oat Bucket said. Usually the 1st 12 hours is the most important to get colostrum in them.
