updating .. never experienced this before

...This was a wierd kidding season for me. Two things I'ld never seen before has occurred. The first event was posted in another thread...update on that thread:

"Both" of Bliss' kids have now bonded to her and "both" are nursing her, albeit they both prefer the same side...Have been hesitant to take that side due to the tubed baby's past experiences and I don't want her to have any reason to not continue to search/suck her mother's teat. (Am wondering how others might handle this. I could milk out the side those babies are not drinking...have taken some and, though it still has colostrum in it, it seems fine.) Just saw them both outside the barn following Bliss around.

The other wierd incident that did NOT end well at all: I went out in the middle of the night to check on the kids and found the last doe due to kid this year standing in the back room with two (2) "cold" heads hanging out of her vagina. Both kids were already dead! I tried to push one kid's head back in and this doe (Faith) went down. I pulled on the head of the other kid and it came out quickly and easily; then I pulled on the head of the other and that one, too, came out quickly and easily. Faith just laid there...no sounds of pain at all. (I took time to get rid of the dead kids while I thought about what to do with Faith.) About 2-3 minutes later I returned to find Faith still laying there chewing cud and acting as though she was doing just fine. I decided not to disturb her!

About an hour later found Faith walking around the barn eating/drinking and looking around as though she had lost something. Her vagina is swollen; but not turned inside out. Today she is out grazing as though nothing ever happened.

I would never in a million years have thought a doe would try to give birth to more than one "head" at a time!

Sorry for the loss of 2 babies. It sounds like one started and then the other bubble came out and if 1 got stuck the other proceeded to come out. It has been know to happen but not to often it just depends on hoq strong she was pushing at the time. They do get in a hurry sometimes. I bet she was just very very exhausted and needed some rest. Good luck.
I would milk the other side out till they find it. Mine do that sometimes and then they find the other teat, it just takes time untill they are wanting more milk.

This has been a strange kidding season for a lot of people. Sorry you lost the kids, but at least Faith is doing okay.
