1 week old with a cough?sneeze?

I know 2 goat people locally and have the internet to look for answers to problems. But sometimes I guess I just get information overload.

Yesterday morning I noticed the little guy sneezing/coughing. I have not taken temp yet, but am going to this morning since he is still doing this.

One of the locals (the people I got my goats from) said to try childrens medication like robitussin before considering antibiotics.
The other local said they have some antobiotics if I want some.
I know they affect the developing immune system.
How do you determione when it is time for stronger medications?
He is out this morning and moving around with Cecelia.
He is eating well and keeping a full belly.

From Fiasco Farms med page:

Note on Antibiotics: I do not consider antibiotics the "be all, and end all, and cure all" of all medical treatments and I do not believe that giving antibiotics at the first sign of any illness is always the correct response. I get many posts from people asking advice with their goat's health and so often I hear "She had a runny nose, so I gave her antibiotics..." or "He couldn't stand, so I gave him antibiotics..." Antibiotics are used to treat infection and using them as the first response to any seeming health problem only breeds resistance to antibiotics, so when you actually do need the antibiotic for the reason it is intended, it may no longer work. Also, please be aware that antibiotics cause great stress to the Immune System and negatively effect the digestive system.
Please use antibiotics responsibly.

Take his temperature. Watch him. Wait.

Drink a beer for patience.

Hey Spike..I'm like Alice..I'd take a wait, watch and see approach. (Okay..it's Saturday, I'd probably take the beer too). He's a week old..maybe he's still getting rid of stuff he snarfed in the birthing process.

Thanks guys.

102.9 So I guess I do just need to watch and chill out.

When I gave him the vitamin E and the nutri-drench, I was careful to just get in his mouth and let him swallow it. But that was also a few days ago.

I quit drinking alcoholic beverages a few years ago, but sometimes I think it would be theraputic to have a beer or 2 or 12........

You're doin' great Spike. LOL..I gave up my whiskey 20 years ago. I'm a cheap drinker on beer and stay in a grand mood with it.

Yep, just keep a close eye on him but his temp sounds good & he's eating & bouncing around so that'a good sign too.
My hubby quit drinking about 17 years ago but I keep non alcoholic beer here because he still likes to have one once in awhile. Get you a 6 pack of O'Douls & set out in th goat pen with the new baby, well you don't have to drink all 6!
